Question

Low cost Balance Charger ??

Iím looking for a versatile charger to charge 2 and 3 cell (450 -2200 mA) Lipos. My price range is $80 to $140

Is this a good option? (Intelligent RC-Power 601BC Balance Charger at BananaHobby)

Hello Tarm.

The best low priced balance charger is the Cellpro to $74.95

http://www.fmadirect.com/Detail.htm...2218&section=45

If you order for more than 75 US$ you get 10 US$ off:

You will qualify, as you also will need a adapter or pigtail:

Stay away from RC-Power chargers. They are cheap knockoffs of Bantam chargers. Based on user reviews, quality is poor, voltages are incorrect and they are unreliable.

If you are looking for an AC/DC charger the new Hyperion EOS0606I is a good choice at $140. Has the built in balancer. If you would rather use an external balancer and external power supply, the Hyperion 5i DC charger and LBA10 balancer is a good choice. See allerc.com.

Another vote for the cellpro for your application. Do you already have a 12v power supply? Or will you be needing that also?

I have a good 12VDC Power supply but I do like the AC option with the Hyperion EOS0606I Charger.

Were can I buy the DN Power Balance Pro charger for $70?

The best two chargers for your application by far are:

* FMAdirect Cellpro4s (~$75)
- DC input
- LiXx only
- 2s-4s integrated balance charger
- 50W output ([email protected], [email protected])
- smart, simple, safe, does a great job, well proven

IMO the Cellpro is far superior to the DN charger which does not even tell you how many mAh has gone back into the pack, a vital piece of information for proper care and maintenance of LiPo packs IMO.

* Bantam eStation BC6 (~$150)
- ac/dc input
- Full multichemsitry LiXx/NiXx/Pb
- 2s-6s integrated balance charger
- 50W output ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected])
- optional temperature probe
- optional PC interface
- smart, simple, safe, very flexible,does a great job, well proven, very convenient

The Hyperion 0606iAD is also good but the BC6 wins out on some important features:
Quote:
The 0606iAD has:

* No battery model memories (BC6 has 5)
* No optional temperature probe
* No optional PC USB interface
* No Storage charge program
* No Fast Charge program
* No Lipo Cycling.
* No Capacity safety cut off
* No Timer safety cut off
* No cell count validation prior to charge for lithium (making the BC6 somewhat safer)
* No Li-ion (3.6V) capability

IMAX B6 is an alternative. You can go to blog.quantifly.com , they have a review on IMAX B6.

The IMAX chargers have been known to be poorly calibrated resulting in an overcharged pack.

I thought it was the oither way around, DN displays mahr into the battery, but FMA does not. I thought that was the only feature DN had that FMA did not???
