6 Feet! A-10 Warthog!!!! It's indoor, but it's not micro

Hey, guys!

Here is my latest addition to the fleet. It is a 6 feet wingspan Bluecore A-10 that flies indoors!! The flying weight is right at 4 lbs. but it is amazing at how slow it flies.

It is powered by two 1320 3 cell batteries and two Hyperion 2205-34 outrunners swinging GWS 7x3.5 HD props controlled by two CC Phx 10.

Hextronic Hxt500 servos are used to controll theaileron, elevator, and nose gear. Two Cirrus 4.4 servos are used to control the rudders. Due to the number of servos I needed to run a BEC so I used Castles new 10 amp BEC and it works perfect.

Video is up, check post #4 for the link.

Hope y'all enjoy,
Reegan

That thing is incredible. Nice job! Get us some video... As winter is coming up, I'd like to be doing some indoors stuff.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I am in NW Texas, and our club flies in the Ollie Liner Center in Plainview.

Here is a link to our big event thread that we had in April: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=621402

This will give you a little more of an idea of what we fly in.

Thanks,
Reegan

A truely beautiful flier, a joy to watch! When you're powering it up, I saw a.. spark? in one of the engines. What am I seeing?

Thanks for the compliments!

What you saw inside the nacelles was the ESC full power LED going off. On the CC Phx 10 controllers when you hit full power the LED stays on. I put the speed controls inside the nacelles so I could see the light and make sure that they were syncing correctly, and also in the airflow for cooling.

Thanks,
Reegan

We are very fortunate to have found a place like the Ollie Liner Center. So close to us for such a good price. I hope y'all will find a place soon. There is nothing like flying indoors at a big facility!

Glad that you liked the carrier landing! I had a video of it up earlier, but had to take it off due to make space for the A-10 video. Here is a video of the carrier in action:

Woah, that is COOL! What is your arrestor mechanism? Appears to be catching the front wheels?

It is a really simple system!

Here is a link to a thread where some of us guys were discussing carrier landings: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729381

I posted pics and a lot of details and spec of how to build that carrier.

Thanks,
Reegan
