Tork it or Dork it

Upgrade for Pico Jet Combat

I am happy with the way my Pico Jet Combat flies and does areobatics but would like a little more verticle. I am using a Permax 480, Gunther 5-4 prop, and 8x800ar.
I was thinking about going to a Permax 450 Turbo and staying with the 8x800ar. Would the 450 fit in the motor mount with the rudder on right? Would the AreoNaut 6.5-4 prop be good for it? Did anybody ever try the 450 turbo, how did you like it in the Pico?

I think you just need a prop change. Go to a Graupner 5,5x4,3 or a 6x4 and you will have another plane in your hand.
I like Gunther props, but their are not the best, just the cheapest.

Graupner speed 480BB race has adjustable timing, so if you time it for backwards running and use a APC 5.7x3 prop on the 8x800AR pack you will get awesome performance. I used this setup, and it was my favourite combination. I tried all the other props, 4.7x4.7, 6x4, 5.4x4.3 etc but the 5.7x3 was the best with this motor and battery.

Kyri,
I have used a SP480BB race but I found the duration un-acceptable. What kind of AMP draw did you get out of the 480 Race and the mentioned prop. I was seeing way over 20 AMP's with a Cox 6X3 (don't rememeber the exact #) I finally broke down and ordered a 4014 Colbolt motor. Should have it on Thursday and should be able to try it out over the weekend. Will let you know.

Cheers,
Jim
