I need help on flying sailplanes in Phoenix RC simulator
I didn't get any responses in the following thread.
I need a little help. I know nothing about flying sailplanes. However, I would like to give the sailplanes a try in Phoenix RC. Therefore, I need some help setting up the wind variables in Phoenix RC. What settings below do you recommend to get me flying one of the sailplanes?
Wind Speed (mph)
Gust Strength (mph)
Thermal Strength (mph)
Thermal Size (ft.)
Thermal Duration (sec.)
I on the other hand know nothing about Phoenix RC and settings will depend on what you would like to do. Unrealistically easy setup which will guarantee that you stay up would be:
Wind and gusts: zero
Thermal strength: reasonably high, say 4 or 5 mph
Thermal size: maximum possible
Duration: maximum possible
Relatively easy, but a bit more realistic:
Wind 1 - 2 mph
Strength 2 - 4 mph
Size 60 - 150 ft
Duration 120 -240 sec.
Try different settings and see what works for you. Once you begin to get the hang of it, add some challenge by increasing wind and gusts / decreasing thermal parameters.
