I'm having my doubts now. The Santa Ana winds have arrived. Here is the weather for Riverside and the regatta tomorrow:

High Wind Warning

/O.CON.KSGX.HW.W.0011.071021T1000Z- 071023T0100Z/ ORANGE COUNTY COASTAL AREAS- SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY VALLEYS-THE INLAND EMPIRE- RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS-SANTA ANA MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS- 110 PM PDT SAT OCT 20 2007
...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM SUNDAY TO 6 PM PDT MONDAY...

A HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM SUNDAY TO 6 PM PDT MONDAY.

SANTA ANA WINDS WILL DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT WITH AREAS OF NORTHEAST WINDS INCREASING TO 25 TO 35 MPH WITH STRONGEST GUSTS TO 80 MPH BELOW PASSES AND CANYONS BY SUNDAY MORNING. STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE BELOW THE CAJON PASS AND NEAR THE COASTAL FOOTHILLS OF THE SANTA ANA MOUNTAINS. STRONG SANTA ANA WINDS WILL CONTINUE AT TIMES THROUGH MONDAY. WEAKER SANTA ANA WINDS WILL CONTINUE AT TIMES MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY.

A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE.

THE WINDS WILL MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR MOTORISTS WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST AND SAND COULD REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR ZERO. WATCH FOR BROKEN TREE LIMBS AND DOWNED POWER LINES.

Hour by hour weather for tomorrows event:

As a side note, this weekend was also a Revver Brotherhood speed plane event in the high desert; a float plane fly-in at Lake Casitas, and a BBQ and Fun Fly here in the San Fernando Valley. I think all events have been 'blown out'.

It's windy at my house now and I have a weather station that records the highs and lows of everything including the wind. The highest recorded wind gust so far was 97 mph last June.

The Santa Ana winds can be brutal.

I am the opposite,... always a boat, no camera...

Actually I often have the camera, but get so busy running around the event, or talking to people, that I forget to take pictures...

I'd probably get tarred and feathered if I showed up with one of my RTR's.

Unfortunatly...

Due to the high wind at the lake, this event has been postponed until Sunday the 4th November...

Scoot was the only boat to get in to the water...
Bunch of wusses...

BTW, on the way back from All Electronics to get a capacitor I drove over to Sepulveda Basin model airplane field and the wind had ruined that event as I expected. There was only one plane in the pits and it was up against the fence. They were still eating the BBQ but no one was flying at the 'fun fly'.

Just a quick report from the regatta..

About 50 boats attended and a GREAT day was had by all..

Unfortunatly team toes was so busy running boats in 'navigation', 'navigation with barge' and 'team towing'.. that i didnt manage to get any pics of the other boats in attendance...

Here are a few of the trophy's that team toes walked off with..

Mustang Sally: Third place military
Scoot: Water polo winner (scored ALL three goals )
Under 24" Navigation First place
ST 695 (Angels Gate): Second place military
....and... Best of Show.....
