6mmFlyRC Profile MiG-29 with Simple Thrust Vectoring (with plans)

Here are plans for a profile MiG-29 Fulcrum with a simple form of thrust-vectoring.

The design uses much of the same ideas as my F-22 Raptor. This construction features an openable hatch for easy access to the battery and electronics, as seen in this picture of my F-22.

This plane can be built with only tailerons, but I have drawn out markings for ailerons and rudders too. If using both ailerons and tailerons they can be coupled together for easy servo installation.

Data

Wing span: 72 cm (28.3 in)
Length: 101 cm (39.7 in)

The dimensions for the slots and notches are made for 6 mm depron. You'll have to modify those if you build in other materials.

Plans

Plans for this model in PDF, Google Sketchup, and AutoCad formats, can be downloaded from http://rc.tomhe.net/mig-29. The tiled plans should be printed centered at 100 %.

UPDATE: This model is now available as a kit from 6mmFlyRC. If you want to save some time you should order a kit from them.

UPDATE: 6mmFlyRC has put together an instruction guide with lots of pictures that guides you through the build process.

UPDATE: This plane is now also available as a kit with a power combo (motor, ESC, and propeller) from Grayson Hobby.

I was so happy with your F-22 design that I'm going to build this one too. Unfortunately I don't have time in near future, but maybe in next month.

I will give it a try,I will cut foam later, I will send pic's as I go, very nice plans and good size. Maybe down the road I might try a 40" WS if this is as good as the SU-27...

Well it's cut from blue foam and all the parts fit very well...now to decide what stuff to put in it and add rudders..(maybe).

Wow, you're fast! I've just sent my plans to a shop for laser cutting. I'm hoping that they are ready on Friday.

They are as long as there are control surfaces in the prop wash. Not all mid-mounted models have that.

I've decided to make a 1/2 scale version since I have a spare 3mm depron sheet and I want to try a pocket size fighter I'm planning to use aileron/taileron linking.

I ordered following setup from UH today:

AX 1806N 2500kv motor (19g) This motor should give 30-40W
two EM 4.3g servos
Pulsar 6amp esc (6g)
Corona Synthesized Receiver 4Ch (4g)
That's 37.6g without batteries and I already have 2s 1000mAh (53g) and 750mAh (39g) LiPos

I'm aiming to 120-150g AUW. That's 4.25-5.30 oz.

This will be very interesting. I've also considered making a smaller plane, maybe suitable for indoor flight.

SGT sounds like a bargain at $1.5M
compared to $2B for a B2 !!!

Sorry tomhe, I could'nt help myself.
Besides I'm waiting for thing to dry/setup on the F22, soooo

here is the Mig29 dxf files arrainged on 2 sheets of std sized depron.

I wont get to this one for quite sometime but ...
It's ready to cut :-)

Good luck with this design.

I also bulded f22 and it was so great that now im building mig too
My F-22 is 50% sized version and powered with medusa 4000kv motor, 3x2 prop and 3s300mah lipo.. flying weight around 100g
But now i wan to test make mig around 70g useing 2s300mah lipo and 9g purple motor from unitedhobbies.. im also wondering to "modificate" mig 29 to su-30,33 etc.. so it means that im going to put moveing canard wing to it
So if F-22 was great doing some sick aerobatics, i can only imagine what this going to be..
