Naboo Starfighter Mockup

Well, I now know it has been done, having read the posts on the Naboo Cruiser... Nevertheless, here is what I have been working on 'back burner' so-to-speak. A 2.875" span N-1 Starfighter, to serve as a test frame for a larger R/C version.

It flies... Not as well as some other 3"+/- span planes I have built, but it does fly.

Another... The inv. V-tail was necessary to get it to fly...

Get it up to 34" span for small EDF or 44" for twin EDF! and I'll buy one! Bob

Well... EDF? I mean, the intake area for the engine pods = 0" sq.! My idea was to use a couple direct drive 280s, or even a couple IPS gearboxes, and paint the props grey. (The disappear with the right color gray!) 24-34" span, to avoid having a really long plane, too... (I think it has about a 1:2 wingspan-to-length ratio.) I have used the IPS-A on a Tiny aerobatic plane, and with the 9"/7" prop, it really moves... Imagine with two!

First I need to finish the Beech Starship, but this could very well be the next project.

I'll keep you posted.

If you get that flying well you'll be the talk of your field. That would be so cool.

Actually, I hadn't... Now that's a way to make it fly! 600-700 in. sq.? Must be a spectacular slowflyer/indoor plane! I assume it is elevon controlled...

If I build one, I am going to try to make the fuselage/wing interface as 'scale' as possible... I feel this contributes quite a bit to the overall appearance. More importantly, I plan to make it aerobatically inclined. (If possible. )

Thing would be way cool on twin Co2 in the nacelles. Build to 20" and put two GWS micro drives in the nacelles. Cooler and longer flight times! Pant the props black and you ont notice.

Acually, grey is a better color for 'hidden' props... White tends to lighten the background, black tends to darken it... The right gray, and neither happens.
