Jim, I'm considering ordering the new MX-24s Profi from Graupner for my L-39. In their product guide, they claim PPM18 (9 channels), and PPM24 (12 channels).

3 questions :
1.
Can I use the Xtremelink Universal module in the MX-24 until the "MX-24 specific" module becomes available ?
2.
If so, can I use it in the PPM24 and get a full 10 channels ?
3.
Is the "MX-24 specific" module going to be released anytime soon ?

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Not until next year.

In the mean time, the MX-22 (which is just like the MX-24 but with a couple of less features) gives you PPM18 and PPM24 modes.

Futaba 9CAS and Hitec Eclipse 7 compatibility

I currently fly the 8 ch XPS receiver using the XPS module in an Eclipse 7 transmitter (works great, no problems).

I was thinking about purchasing a Futaba 9CAS to get more features and models (http://www.servocity.com/html/9ca_super_systems.html).

The XPS site indicates that they have a special module for the 9C.

"2.4GHz Futaba 9C transmitter module
XtremeLink™ 2.4GHz transmitter module for Futaba 9C and other transmitters.
Not compatible with Futaba 9Z, Futaba surface radios, or Hitec transmitters."

Does anyone know if the 9CAS can be made compatible with the Eclipse 7 module (add a filter etc.)?

Thanks

The only difference in those is the case. Due to the positioning of the module the Hitec uses the old plastic with the antenna straight out the back. The new plastic has an extension with the antenna pointing up for the 9C. You could use your current module with the 9C as well, but not vice versa.

Absolutely not . . . all 2.4G systems are proprietary in their encoding, just like PCM. Not to mention totally different frequency allocation/management methodologies.

Microstar 2000, its basically a pretty advanced DIY encoder that can be used to make any radio hardware computer based. Its pretty popular among HAM guys who are into building sets. Having universal 2.4 modules will open the market up some I think.
