Yellow Aircraft F-16C Down Under - EDF conversion

I got my F16C today! . Even though it took 7 days to get here it was a painful wait for me. Much to my annoyance it took longer to get from Sydney to Perth (across country) than it did from the US into the country - figure that one out

The main thing is that I have it now and it's arrived undamaged.

Here are some pics.

The box is massive - it just fitted in the X5. I sure hope the plane will fit in my car its entirety when it's build - hate pulling stuff apart to transport.

I have to say that the Yellow Aircraft retracts are NOT retracts. They are a piece of ART ! They put anything I have seen so far to shame. The retracts was the major influence for me in getting this F16 - talk about scale.

Overall I am very happy with my choice of F16 supplier. Out of all the kits out there, i found this F16 to have the correct scale proportions, a scale retract system that is magnificently made and the airframe (laced with carbon fibre) to be top quality and very detailed. The added surprise for me was the tinted canopy - just like the real F16.

Before I got the kit I already decided how i want it to look (colour scheme) and I have picked out a soundtrack for the video that I will make of it when it becomes airborne. It's going to be fully loaded - thats how I like to see military jets flown.

With regards to power system I am still undecided. Most likely it will be a 120mm fan on 12S but no firm decision on the make of fan or motor. I will doing some testing with various fans, motor and batteries to get the combination that suits me best.

What I do know is that I won't be using a Castle Creations 110HV ESC. I will be opting for the Kontronik 63V with built in cooling fan or a Hacker Spin 200

My main goals with this kit are;
1. to build it light - ready to fly weight has to be around 10 - 12lbs
2. to make it very detailed (so much that maybe it will become just a static model)

For information, all the parts in the F16 kit plus retracts & wheels weigh around 3.8kg but there's lots of ways of reducing this when building starts.

Finally I would like to thank Shaun of Yellow Aircraft for the great sales service and advice.

Looks great. What are the dimensions of the hatch?
I would love to do a larger F-16. Might even paint it in my signature F-16 color scheme!!

Hi Robert

The hatch is 90mm x 250mm. By the way, what's your signature F16 scheme?.

I will do this. The manual takes a bit of time to read especially when the written material is seperate from the photos which has been collated as another document)

900 feet ! you must have good eye sight, but I agree, that colour scheme would made it easy to see.

yeah, if only the fans were readily available. I'm looking forward to the video to hear and see it in a flying model.
