Looks like a good alternative for those of us that want a quadcopter but can't afford $1000 on one.

Depends on how you look at it, some of us dont think the $1000 one is worth $1000.

If it's $280 and it flys good, then that would be worth in IMO. I'll buy one if the reports come back good on it.

Yup ... I agree ... and hopefully it will fly out of the box with no problem ... be interesting to see what is under the hood in form of gyros and upgradability.

Though, if you do have an X-3D X-BL quad ... there's no going back to brushed ...

How do you keep orientation on that? Must be very easy to get disoriented in mid flight. Or at least I would.

You have to mark the front/blades with brightly colored markings or lights for night flying ... i.e., something similar from the Quadrocopter thread ... https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/atta...mentid=1487406

hmm...looks quite good actually! I have never been a fan of this type of heli, however, at those prices, I am now starting to reconsider my original decision!

I'm getting one, I have the x-ufo and it's CRAP! I always thought that if the gyro part was better it would be really cool.
What ever bad tings you can say about walkera I've alway liked their gyro systems, even the new palm sized 4#3 FP seems to have HH as a standard.

Never one for mixing his words...but honesty is the best policy (as they say!)

yup ... Silverlit cut functionality to get the production costs down ... hence the mechanical gyro ... the original concept design by the inventors had a 3 piezo solution ... which evolved into the REALLY COOL X-3D upgrade solution (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577960 ) ... when it was apparent that Silverlit was not going to provide the upgrade path ... they decided to make one available to the user community themselves to get the hobby grade flight performance it was designed for in the first place. This of course doubled the cost ...

It will be interesting to see what their gyro solution will be. In the video it looks slow and stable.

I agree with, tend2it, it looks very stable and very controllable. I just hope that production versions keep the same characteristics as the one in the vid.
