Help- tightening down prop/spinner with cowl?

Okay guys, need some advice. Every plane I have been building lately has been a 3D or pattern type that has a cowl. Is there some technique that I'm missing on getting the prop/spinner tightened down onto the outrunner while the cowl is on? The only way I've found is to take off the hold down screws on the cowl and move it TOWARDS the canopy giving me room to clamp down on the front part of the outrunner or hub so I can tighten down the prop spinner combo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

That's how I always do, too. I always wanna make sure that thing is tight on, even if it means a lil more work.

I just wished they'd made some rubber coated pliers so it wouldn't scrach up the propeller hub.

There's a product called Plasti Dip that you can coat a plier with for that purpose. Do a search on the net or your local hardware store.

I got it! I got it!
I've never had a need to hold the motor or prop adapter hard. I just reach into the cooling air opening with 2 fingers on the motor and snug up the prop nut. The direction of rotation of the prop vs the nut will ensure that it doesn't loosen up, and actually tightens up a bit further with running.

Just my experience....Earle
