Forgot to specify, I am using a FASST system. I also have it in a P51 with a Y for the ailerons and a Y for the flaps.

Thanks techspy. A friend had just mentioned that it was something I need to double check before Y'ing. Sounds like I'll be just fine.

I'm also running my elevators on a Y with Futaba Fast. I turned one of the servos around so no need for a reverser.

Hitec 5125 fit good and you can reverse the servo with the programer.
No need any reversal harness.

IMO the Hitec servos in general have poor centering, all you need to do is sit behind your jet and watch the elevators center 2 clicks high, then 1 click low, sometimes wandering to center over a 1/4 to 1/2 second while hey search. Perhaps 7 of 10 times they return to center properly but the other 3, they do wander. I never believed this until a buddy of mine told me to sit and watch them one day. Then he said "what do you think this does in flight" and he was right, hard to trim 100% and sloppy exits from manuevers. Don't take my word, put it up against a JR 3421 (that would be the equivalent for elevator, rudder or ailerons on that size jet) and see for yourself. I thought it was a gimmick until I saw the centering difference...

I also had problems with centering the HS 5125's in my Spark. Mine now has JR's.

Did you guys use a programer? Or just put them in the plane and go for it?

I burnt in my 5125's on the programmer.. have over 20 flights with no problems and they center perfect... plane is rock soild in the air

I think it's the luck of the draw with Hi Tech's... I'm sure the JR's are better
but my Hi Tech's are working perfect

Does the Hitec programmer have a function to burn in servos by running them from end to end????
I have an old PIC controller I use for this, but could use something better....

Yep Jim,
and you can set the speed fast or slow.. I do 15 minutes slow...let cool
15 minutes mid ... let cool.. then 15 fast...done

works for me... my friend is an electrical engineer and told me that 90% of the time new electronics will fail in the first ten min.

I've caught about 4 or 5 servos bad out of the box now... they could have done in the plane

I run most servos for 45 minutes, have not found a bad Futaba, have found a bad JR cheapie and Airtronics.
I burned in some Hitec low profile ailerons servos because they were WAY too stiff in the gear train.
After 90 minutes of burn in you could finally turn them by hand and the free running current dropped in half.
The gears are just to tight and need breaking in.

Ron,
What model Programmer do you use?
I'm looking at the HPP-21 +, at about $50 or the HFP-20, at about $150 . I've also just bought a set of HS-7985MG's for another aircraft so I want to make sure I get the correct programmer. Clearly, if the HPP-21+ will do the job, I'd sure like to save some money. What u think?
I'm also having issues with my 5125's in the tail like jfetter mentioned, and with the DS3421's in the wing...no problem. It's getting really frustrating!
