I started on the fox tonight.
1 hour with a disposable razor has all the moulding dimples off nice and clean.

When i mentioned it to Gluggy this afternoon on the way out of work, the lady who was also in the lift seemed a bit concerned that i was going home to 'Shave my Fox'!

Now its all nice and smooth, and none of the moulded skin is sanded off. Its important if you plan on doing this to use a new sharp razor, not an old one.

Tomorrow night... add extra ribbon spars to the wing tips, elevator and tail fin. And some thin goop on the tips, wheel well, and wing saddle area.

I heard some of the ladies like the foxes with all the little bumps left on! I sand mine off with the dull sand paper though since this one will be for flying!
I'm pretty sure I'll be able to maiden mine today at 25 OZs and REAL STIFF!
If you guys do much covering and or CF stiffening, especally at the tail feathers, I urge you to put your AAA battery in front of the gear bays and just cut it into the nose if you want to avoid adding extra balancing weight. To give you an idea(s), I covered mine with that special covering and I think it weighs very close to a strapping tape and mono covering job. I balanced PERFECT off the bench adding gear like in the pic.
I turned this into a pretty big build but, I am VERY excited to see the results!

maidenend mine!

it didnt like to fly slow....i acutally stalled and spun on base to final luckily into grass no damage. lots of advers yaw..i even high started it a few times with the hook i made for it..as long as you keep it moving it flies great

i built it with out plans! chew!

aileron spars...

the stalling described fits with my experience with my Microswift, a similar smaller molded version from SUSA. Decreasing elevator throws to minimum helped a lot with that issue, along with keeping it moving.

For Predator: can you give some detail for the ribbon spars? so you cut off the ailerons, slide in a ribbon on edge along the LE? Secured how? Also, how did you secure your replacement aileron stock... Blenderm tape or similar?

Looks good!

thanks

With this airfoil, it doesn't surprise me at all that it only wants to fly fast.
To avoid both adverse yaw, and tip stalls, add some more differential.
Set the ailerons to move upwards about twice as much as downwards.
