I can't imagine that it'd save much.
With plane assembled with no gear it (other than joiner) it only weighs 7.8oz
total. Each wing half, with pre-molded in carbon spar is only 1.9oz.

Ming indicated that the EPS is a bit more rigid, but it'll also be more brittle,
especially out at the super thin 3/8" thick 2" deep tips. EPS cores might
be nice if you were planning to actually vacuum bag the wings or something.

BTW, this airfoil appears to have no undercamber at all. If anything
it appears to have a little bit of reflex, which means it should be pretty
speedy and probably fly inverted fairly well.

Thanks for that info, Ian. I was thinking 15 oz w/out gear. But 7.8 - wow.

I am ordering one of these. . . just did

A couple pages back Ming said his was 14 3/4 oz RTF with no rudder
servo and a 4xAAA battery pack. Super light for a 66" EPP plane,
but he also doesn't use any tape or covering. With its long nose,
and short tail boom, you can pretty much add as much weight
as you want during the build in ribbon spars/tape/covering/Goop and
balance it with nothing but a big battery pack.

I got in on the initial offering, I think I was the 2nd or 3rd or early on at least.

Been waiting for a while but it was well worth the wait because this is one nice kit for what it costs.

I'm not bad with a mouse either, Ming.
Ill put together a foxy logo for you over the next few days.

Fox Logo

Looks like I'm first!

I probably won't have time to do more than this before Monday, but here are a few to look at Ming. I'm more of a designer than an illustrator, so maybe you want something more like a cartoon? Anyway, these are my ideas. Of course I have high resolution versions if needed.

Looking forward to seeing KillerAir's and nator_au's!

Mike
