What a great little plane, very fast to. Doing speed passes and dives with the rc speedo app on phone and getting readings in the 60's on passes and 70's and 80's mph on dives.

I ran 5 packs through her every sat. and sun. morning and 2 to 3 evenings a week from end of july to september. Must have had over 70 - 5 minute flights on her. Only had to replace 2 servos on same elevon, from landing on sidewalk.

H-29 variant

Hi all,

I was intrigued by this very nice design. Therefore I am planning to build one as well. I did make some modifications in the design though:

1. 60 cm wing span (~130%)
2. larger prop slot, for more silent and efficient operation
3. Kfm-2 airfoil
4. slimmer fuse (6 cm max).

As a power setup I will be using a Turnigy D2826 2200kv motor with 6x4 TGS prop and 2200 mAh 3s battery

Very nice variation, looking forward to the finished plane.

On my next one I wanted to make the elevators as large as possible by cutting in the leading edge in front of the hinge at the tips as well. As it was the control surfaces needed max throws to have good response. I think that would help with more response. On the other hand the plane was very smooth per the original plans. Decisions decisions....

Thanks, good suggestion! Maybe I'll make the control surfaces a bit larger as well: see attachment. The only drawback is that the vertical stabilizers shift a bit further to the front now.

I found that Charas' H-29 was a bit touchy in Pitch.
So that delicate pointy nose was always getting "bent"

As a consequence, I never sold more than a couple of them.

What ever you do Go easy on the Elevator throws.

Mig-29

I build my variant of the H-29, but it didn't fly as good as I expected. So I updated/improved the design towards a MIG-29. This one flies excellent: fast, easy to launch, perfect rolls and nice loops.

So it went in for a complete rebuild. Camo paint job, 1306 3100kv Gartt motor, 5x3 Gemfan, 500mah 2s, Mini Frsky rx, Emax 9051 servos, ZTW 6a esc. Still flies great. I added a little more area on the elevons to get more authority on the roll, its improved but still not too fast on the roll, I would like a little more so on the next rebuild I may cut in ailerons. I may print out some "decals" blade them out and glue stick them on. Good for right now.

First video is the re-maiden, second is with more throw. Looks like I got the cg correct. It may even be moved back a bit for better roll response maybe. Very windy and a little cold.

Good stuff. It sure is a great fun little design.

Soon as our postal strike is settled, I'm going to order a few of those Garett 1306s. I've got about 60 5X3 props yet to break.

Thanks, yes good for the money I think they have them 2 for 22 dollars in your choice of right or left thread. I have the motor on a Flite test Vector done regular size and very light, its plenty of power and works well in outdoor conditions too. Also on 2s. It looks like a knock off of the T motor. The best thing about it is the built in motor mount that really simplifies the install.

I guess I brainfarted on the roll issue. The Taranis (and maybe others) does the elevons mix with 50% throw on the aileron and elevator. So obviously you can increase that. I put the aileron to 70 and whamo instant sped up roll. Now I just have to fine tune left and right since the roll is more responsive to the right. Then add in appropriate expo.

Actually Roll one direction is WITH the Torque and the Other direction is AGAINST the torque.

So , you may be chasing an errant ornithoid.
