MEGA 1615/5, 2:1 gearbox and a 10x7?

I've got a Mega 5T with no where to go and am thinking of putting a GB and a big prop on it. I'd only do it if it works well so, has anybody tried this? What was the result? I've got 16 CP1300s too so this sort of set up would actually put some dead weight gear to use.

JT, I ahve this same set up in my Voodoo3 (enlarged foam JellyBean). AUW is24-26 oz depending on 1100's or 1700aups. 8 cell pack 150w+, flight times with 1700's getting over 9 minutes. 15A static draw. Could get more aggressive and go to a 11x7 or so. Fights a great but not unlimited vertical with this weight and size...37"ws. On something like a switchback oooohhh.

Would a 10x5 provide more thrust at the expense of speed?

Yes, but you would be better off ( in my case with a larger heavier plane) going with an 11x4.7 to keep the watts up. Unless of course if you go with 10 cells to get the voltage up to compensate for the lower amps.
