Hey Fourdan,

I was wondering if you could add support for the Scopion S2503-1960kv and the 11A Scorpion ESC (the precise one I'm looking at firing up tomorrow) anytime soon.. planning on running an 8x4 or 8x3.8SF on it at the moment.

Also would like to see the S1805-2250kv.

One last thing wanted to mention, the 2503-1960kv is listed as 20grams, it's actually 21.60g (measured) NIB.

I have to ask Scorpion's boss for one S2503-1960 sample to test and embed in SC.
Regarding SC kernel it was not developped (by myself , in VB6) for a library of ESC.
So the solution is to user-edit the parameters (if you have)

Sii 3026-710


Louis,

I'm experiencing some performance issues with a new SII 3026-710 motor.

SC calc predicts that using a 4S LIPO and an APC 12x8E prop the motor should be pulling 50.5 Amps and the prop should be rotating at 9383 RPMs.

When I tested the motor I got:

Test Results: 15.10 V, 36.3 A, 8970 RPMs.

Test Conditions: APC 12x8E prop, 25ft ASL, 67 F. The Battery was reading 16.76 V with no load.

This is well below the stated numbers on the Scorption "Performances Charts" in their web site.

I noticed that SC lists 790 as the KV for this motor. This is supposed to be a 710 KV motor. Did the 790 KV value came through tests?

I am trying to get all my facts straight before I request the motor be replaced under warranty.

Hi Robert
Yes I have tested one sample SII 3026-710 ref IL0004 (beginning of the serial)
I measured Kv around 781 rpm/V @ 15V

There are two other informations concerning SII 3026-710

and a paper by Ken Myers (attached .doc). Ken found Kv around 779 rpm/V

It is possible that several batchs of SII 3026-710 could have some spreading about Kv. (magnet strength .. windings ..).
Maybe Lucien could have additional measurements.
Anyway I will transmit that "observation" to Scorpion technicians

Depending of the replies it is easy for me to change 3 major parameters in SC
Rm, Io versus rpm, Kv

Concerning the difference 781 rpm/V against 790 rpm/V .. I don't remember
why I have put 790 rpm/V instead of 780.

I experienced something somewhat similar to this issue. My current(I) readings on a scorpion motor (with a scorpion camander ESC) where drastically lower than predicted. What I found was that after doing the initial ESC throttle calibration, I was testing how to program the LVC. I tried programming the ESC to return to factory settings, which unknowingly cleared my throttle calibration. When I went to fly the plane, I was surprised that I didn't get the performance I expected. I recalibrated my throttle on the ESC, and all was good.
