Just tested E-flite 8.4 300mah Ni-MH in my Tiger Moth

I picked up a 7 cell 300mah Ni-MH 1/3 AA pack from my LHS.

I tested it and the plane flies so much better than the 6 cell 150mah Ni-Cd pack that came with my Pico kit.

With the 6 cell 150mah ~ 3 mins and hard to climb at low batt.
With the 7 cell 300mah ~ 6 mins or more and climbs great. (Need to time my flight after a few more flights)

The best thing about this battery is I didn't have to widen the fuse battery holder.

I'm going to get another one later...
After that, I'll have 2 150mah Ni-Cd's and 2 300mah Ni-MH's.

Hi Leslie, that's a good pack if you prefer not to carve out any foam. I've been having good luck with the 370mah 2/3AAA packs from www.aeromicro.com.

The flat packs need a little foam carving, I think the brick packs will fit without carving but can't say for sure. The 370's give another couple of minutes duration more than the 300's.

But the main advantage is price. The 370's are only 17.95 per pack.

Another option is www.allerc.com they have the 300 packs for $11.95.

Yeah but the $11.95 300mah's are bigger and are Ni-Cd.

This E-Flite I got is smaller and weighs about the same as the GWS 150mah 6 cell.

You may get a little more flight time with www.aeromicro.com 2/3 pack but they are bigger and heavier right?

I wan't to keep my TM as lite as possible.

I'm going to get another pack soon from my LHS, these E-Flites are great.

Whoops, allerc usually has NiMH's too. He must be out of them right now. Sorry.

The 370's are the same exact weight as the 300's. I have 5 of the 370 packs from Aeromicro and am very happy with them.

I also have the Qualcomm 830's but like Boomer said the NiMH's fly the plane better so I don't use them.

Boomer are your 300's 2/3AAA's or 1/3A cells? Radical used to sell the 2/3AAA's. Has Dave changed?

Leslie,
I've been using the same exact pack and get 10 minute flights including lots of touch and goes with full throttle pull ups.

Yeah, I've only had 2 flights in on the batts.

It's raining now.

But before when it was just foggy, I showed my friends the plane and flew it at this local spot by the water and it flew forever it seemed.

I could loop it 3 times in a row. The plane was great on this battery.

I'm going to buy 1 more.

Wait, seems like I'll buy 2 more to get me to 3 total and then store away the 150mah Ni-Cds since they do nothing for this plane.

This battery is definetly the TM batt since you don't even have to mod it.

The Tiger Moth is so much more funner now.
