When Doug cleans out his basement, the SXC

It all started when I got interested in R/C DLG and e-mailed Doug M. about his Depron Dynomite. He was so very helpful to a newbie, and we have been corresponding regularly. In one e-mail, he mentioned he had a prototype balsa 60" DLG wing he had no use for and wished he could get it to me. I offered to pay the shipping, and also ordered some other parts I needed. He threw in some of his blem (???look perfect to me) tail surfaces and pods from his SX kits.

Heres what I ended up with for my second DLG. It was flying great from the first throw. 1+ minute flights in dead air and slight breeze. Was just getting it dialed in when the battery came unpluged on launch and she went straight in to a parking lot. The Kevlar pod acted like an Indy car and saved they wing, boom, pod and all its occupants. Its back together now with a little carbon tow reinforcment, waiting for the rain to quit.

Thanks Doug.

the pdf is the laser cut parts.

the plan was originally designed for a 54" wing and I stretched Lees to 1.5 meter

Well, is doesn't weigh 6.9 oz anymore. After the first flying session, I felt I just couldn't get her to lock into a glide. It was either pitching up or down, and really struggled in the wind.

Doug suggested that I balast it up to about 8 oz which I did.

Perfect. Penetrates the wind better. Locks into a glide. Now when it pitches the nose up, I know its in a thermal.

Got some multiple thermal flights yesterday that lasted in the 4 minute range.

Fun plane.

My daughter took some bad video with her camera today.

Could use some critiques on my launch.

Lee, looks like you are still getting afflicted- sorry about that. Tell your Daughter she did some great video, and nice flying too.

Hi Lee. I don't know if you are aware or not, but there is a local interest in DLG VERY close to you. I hosted the 2nd annual handlaunch contest at the Appleton field. I just wanted to let you know there are other guys in the area that are interested in DLG.

Contest Report:

P.S. I'm the guy that picked up a bunch of blue foam from you a couple of years ago at the RC Car Track for Blue Funders.

Hey Scott, long time.

Nice group of DLGs you got there. Let me know the next time a group gets together to fly. I have never seen "another" DLG thrown other than my own.

I'll be ready for some contests next year!!!!!
