RCM&E TUCANO, build from kit or plans?

might be opening a can of worms here, but does it actualy work out cheaper to build it from plans after you`ve bought the plan and canopy?, interested in what people think. i`m thinking of building one having flown my mates quite a few times, but i want to make this thing reallY quick with a lot of vertical performance. in doing this i still want to be able to launch it myself and if possible be able to acheive 6 min flight times (with throttle management--if i have to!) I FEEL THE NEED 4 SPEED!

Single-task at best...

Kartman,

I haven't done the Tucano, but I've made its sistership, the Hawk.

Using the plans from a back-copy of RCM+E, making the canopy from foam, reckon on a fiver for balsa, etc.

On the other hand, Nige's kits have a good reputation - especially when it comes to wood selection.
