Build Log

Lockheed/Korean Aero T-50 Golden Eagle

The Korean T-50 Golden Eagle was jointly developed by Lockheed Martin and Korean Aerospace Industries. The plane looks like a F-16, F-18, and BAE Hawk collided and they mixed the parts up when they put it back together. It is different, and I haven't seen one on RCGroups, so I will give it a shot.

The construction is based on Jetsett44 engineering. I have took some time and made a set of plans. I built the second T-50 at 150% with these plans with some minor modifications for fit etc. This plane is very stable at low speeds.

100% Wing Span: 24"
150% Wing Span: 36"

Fuselage Assembly

Well, not much work done the past couple of days due to trying to finish the T-38. It is complete now, so I will have time to work on this little baby some more.

I wanted to post a couple of pictures of the forward fuselage and the lower rear fuselage build up. If you have any experience building Shumate planes, then the contruction techniques are straight forward. I want to make this plane as simple as possible, but there might be a few challenges with the stabilator setup. I am still thinking of ways to best go about it.

I have purchase the motor and esc that I am going to use. It is the TowerPro 2408-21 and TP 18A ESC. I didn't want super speed demon performance for this one, just something to throw at the park and enjoy some relaxing un-puckered flying.

Work Continues!

I haven't had much time over the last several weeks to work on the T-50, but today I was able to make a little progress.

Pretty much finished the stabilator and installed the aileron servos. The ESC is installed as well.

Next I will focus on mounting the wing and building up the upper turtledeck.

The T-50 Project is still alive!!

Hi everyone,

The T-50 project is still making progress. I was able to get the wing on and the first part of the turtle attached. Next will be to finish the turtle deck and start on the canopy. After that, it is making the contours for the sides.

Here are some pics of the progress so far.

Thanks Frojd! It doesn't look like much now, but it should be pretty cool looking once the paint is on.

Finishing and Detailing

Sorry guys, its been a month since the last progress report. I have started the fun part! Filling and sanding! So far she is at 9oz with all servos and esc. I have not installed the receiver yet. So depending on what battery I use it should fall somewhere between 14-16 oz.

Here are some progress pictures as of last night.
