What does a black wristband mean?

If you saw someone wearing a black wristband, what would you assume it meant?

They have sweaty wrists. Or they're emo kids, and they thinks it's fashionable.

Depends on who was wearing it. Goth kids wear them around here as sort of "I'm a Nihilist" ribbons.

the meaning could be anything. just do a search for "black wristband" on google and you find sites selling all sorts of colors for any "cause" you can think of.

Yes, I know. I did that.

The reason I'm wondering is that a co-worker of mine wears one. He's a black man and also wears a yellow Lance Armstrong Foundation wristband. Knowing him, I'm confident that whatever the black wristband means, it's politically correct.

Even if there are multiple causes that use the black wristband as their symbol, I figure there must be one that stands out as the most common, and I'm trying to determine which cause that is.

It means he's a black man, isn't that obvious?

Why do you really care, anyways. If he wears a blue tie with stripes one day does that mean you're going to want to know what that means as well?
