Laurence will never learn to control his helicopter! Tail is constantly spinning out of control! ROFL Only at few moments he managed to slow it down (the tail). Not nice and steady as Paddy's flying!
Now seriously - quite a nice tight funnels Laurence! And after then I started even enjoying 3D rc heli flight! I never did it before - liked a few moves or they just zoomed over my head, but second part of your flight was really nice to watch! Interesting! Artistic really! And all of it without my paying any attention to your skills. And skills wise - you become a pro, man! I really hope I'll have another chance watching you live soon this year! Come on Paddy - find some time for another FF, please! - - - And I just logged in to say that after 5-6 years of flying I finally got guts to flip my 250 in my garden for the first time! I flipped Mini Titan some time ago (almost as a one off), I can fly mCP-X easily inverted, but never tried it with 250 little pig... LOL And chickened out when thought of doing some inverted pirouettes with it in there... Eh.... |

I almost did! :(
I recently posted about the need for lifting off reasonably abruptly when using an FBL controller, especially off a soft surface such as grass. Some posted that this was simply an urban myth, or words to that effect. Well, their words must have sunk in to some extent, so this morning I tried a gentle lift off, only for it to result in an immediate tip over! Grrr! I didn't manage to hit throttle hold, so stripped my second of the three slant gears I'd bought for my 450. This time, happily, it didn't result in a broken motor shaft, but I did have a broken servo arm and two stripped servos. Everything else looks fine, though I'd be surprised if the mainshaft and feathering spindle weren't bent a little.
I'm initially annoyed about the servos stripping so easily, but then they have just survived a bigger crash, from about 10ft up out of inverted. I wonder if this presents me with an opportunity to try another servo - I've been using Henge 933's, and they've lasted well, seem smooth and centre well. Any recommendations for a sub $15 digital? |

Sorry for your loss 2doggs, ive found it to be a myth and find a good trick is getting my heli sitting on only skid at quite an extreme angle and letting off the sticks and it just sits there, i use beastx. Hmmmm maybe ill not push my luck, i hate "dumb" crashes.

I got a quick couple of flights of my V120D02 in before I left on a trip. Sun was out, ~6C & almost no wind. Shame that my #16 808 cam causes resonant vibrations in ST1 otherwise I'd have had some great video. That cam is very good for getting a record. It also helps with setup/fault finding too.
I'm thinking to buy another, strip the casing and see if the change in weight will avoid the vibes. I finally felt like I'd made some progress today. Nice level loops, some nice baby stall turns, a coupe of great banked turns (a first in my small space with this heli) and some near level 8s. I'm beginning to love the whole CP experience and the altitude control which goes with it. My V200D01 was great for mucking about with but the horrible ungraceful endings of FFF are history with this small CP. I still get a mad adrenaline rush but am less frightened about killing someone or losing parts of my body with this 120 size. I just need 2 day weeks and 5 day weekends! |

I've also used a skid mount - a scrap 5" length of main blade, rubber banded to the skids, with the camera velcro'd and rubber banded onto that. Again, without the rubber bands to supplement the velcro, the camera would move too much. |

Edit: Currently it's attached via some small CF rods and tubing - see my blog page. My vibes are coming from a swash which runs off centre. Works ok without the cam but goes nuts with. Shakes hard enough to detach it (see my YouTube page for that). |

Maybe I'll redo the mount for more stability as well. This is still a WIP - keeps me occupied and I crash less... mainly since I fly less! |

4 packs today on the big field. 4-5bft wind and a bit gusty. Took me 3 pack to get comfortable flying higher than i am used to and with pack 4 i did my first inverted figure 8's ! Huge milestone for me, as i can do them all day on the sim but not comfy doing them for real because i dont do new stuff on the small field. Cant wait for the next session. i want to get it smoother and try out all the inverted new stuff i am practicing....
