Theyíre predicting 91 degree temps by the time I can get out to the field. I might skip a flying day today.

And as for that TP-47, #learningCurve. I spent several good hours just trying to find a good eMotor+Prop combo for her. I think itís settled.

Align Heliís - take all the guess work out of choosing the proper Power + ESC + gearing, which brings me to why I am SOO glad I started my electric journey with Align helis

I guess I should look at another charger. I have six packs for the 230"s, two for the 450L, two for the 470L, and one for the 500. I just use a Hitec X2. I really like the charger, but should get more.

Yeah it really makes it easier to be able to charge several packs at once.
I only have one heli and 3 batteries but to be able to charge them all and then go out fly makes things easier.

Im a plane guy and i fly nitro engines so a expensive charger is not the most fun to put the money on but it makes stuff easier.

Now i need to buy more packs

ProgressiveRc sells chargers and parallel boards. I charge my 4 batteries at the same time . Itís more fun that way

I'm probably not flying due to injury but I did finally upgrade my 360CFX to a Spirit FBL. Just gotta pick where I want the sat mounted and I'll be done. It's all programmed. I should sell all these AR7200BX units I have now doing nothing. The one off this model never had the protective plastic film removed yet. (And yes the women choose those tablecloths )

Silly Question

5000mAh 30C vs. 5000mAh 50C

Besides the price difference, and the simple notion that bigger numbers are better, what does it REALLY mean?

So elsewhere on the inter webs, I learned a formula that goes like this. [(5000mAh X 30C)] / 1000 = maximum Amps that can be drawn from the battery at a time?

So a 5000mAh 30c can draw a maximum of 150A at a time?

And a 5000mAh 50c - 250A.

So in help me understand this, if I want to get the most of my 5000mAh 30C, I should invest in a BEC that handles up to 150A? Depending on my application?

first thing you have to know is how accurate the claims are. some 50C lipos can barely manage 20C during bench testing.

it really comes down to how many amps you draw. a higher C rating will keep your lipo cooler and less puffing *assuming* you draw enough amps to need it.
example- you can sport fly a 550 heli at mid/low headspeed with 5000mah true 20C lipos no problem. for more aggressive style and RPM you want 40C or better.

the BEC is to provide power to the servos, receiver and flybarless controller. i assume you have a 550 size heli if you're talking about 5000mah lipos, so your BEC requirement would probably be around 10-20A.

Wait, did you mean ESC? again, this depends on how many amps you draw, which is a function of motor, heli weight, max/min collective pitch, flying style and headspeed.

Well now I think i finally get it. Gentle flying, smaller C ratings, HARDCore 3D Smack flying, Larger C Ratings.
Finally wrapping my mind behind the Lipo science . Thank you !
Now itís all starting to make sense to me

If you want to feel you really got the C rating you paid for then buy graphene. There is a weight trade-off though. Personally I doubt I even push a 20C the way I fly.

LoL - me either , I am gentle with the collective . I try not to harm the ants who may catch a ride on a skid from time to time.

So the cause of my question. Towerhobbies sells 30c lipos at a lower price point than other batteries. They are tempting me, I may not be able to resist for long.
