WOW again !
I flew at a contest at some airport on the west side of of 10 a Long long time ago.
I was at Warner Robins AFB back then.
I did a month or so stint at Green Cove Springs test track once along time ago too.
Pretty much Hog country back then.

I just always thought of FLA as Tree'd and relatively Lush.
That must be a landfill that has been grassed over.
As I did see a cooling tower or something like one.
With the limited viewing angle it just looked like some place "Out West"

Not biggy just chatting :-)

@birdofplay. You are right. It is right next to the landfill on the north side of town. Jaxrc.com

@presa - I think an 8x3.8 prop is too big. It wont fit between the vertical stabs without cutting away some more foam. I think that would make it too weak in that high stress area. You might get away with a 7x5, but you really need a high kv motor with a smaller prop. I use the standard 2212-06 2200kv parkjet motor with a 6x4 sport prop.

63mm fan on my F22

Hi again,

I guess this is my lazy side showing through... can someone point me to a thread where someone may have fitted a ducted fan to their F22. My outrunner died a few days ago but fortunately my curiosity based buy from Hobby King, a 63mm ducted motor turned up today so i am going to have a go at retro fitting it. Any ideas greatfully acccepted.

Just hit the "search this thread" tool and search for edf. There's been a few guys that have done edfs on this bird. One guy even made a module that could swap between a dual and single edf.

I've done 64mm & 55mm twin versions. I've posted on this thread, but its waaaayyy far back. Videos and details of both are on my blog page -- the single 64mm is at the bottom. Feel free to PM with any questions! Happy flying!

Why did I sell them all.

So would you guys say this is easier to make (less angles/cutting) then the 6mmflyrc F/A-18?

@cloaked: if you already builded a model, this one should be no problem. If you never builded any model before, this one should be no problem (of cause you should know how to use a knife and glue ). The F22 was my first scratchbuild, not really much to go wrong here. If it is easier than the F/A 18? I don't know, haven't yet builded her.

Battery Suggestion for stock set-up

Hello all,

I've been following this thread and decided to order the F-22 Quick Build from 6MMFLY RC and the recommended motor/ESC set-up from Grayson Hobby. ParkJet Combo 2212-06 V2 Super-Sonic Brushless Combo

I've searched this thread for battery recommendations and they're all over the spectrum. Since I'm new to "profiles", can anyone recommend the proper LiPo for the "stock" motor set-up? Keep in mind I not attempting to drill holes in the sky, I'll be satisfied with a normal (?) performance.

Thanks...

I fly most of my 6mm profile planes on Rhino 3s 1550mah 20c batteries at 129grams each. I get about 5 minutes with the appropriate capacity left on the pack (approx 20%).

You could easily go with 1800mah. And some folks stick the brick in there...2200mah...and it still flies good.

However, like anything else, if you keep adding weight, the performance suffers. My recommendation is to make the battery area large enough to be able to use different size packs (move them forwards and backwards)...and try out a couple to see what suits you best.

You've chosen a nice plane. The F22 looks good and flies like a dream.

In taking a second look at your Grayson combo, it says to choose a 3s battery that can sustain 30 amps. To do that, you will want to pick a battery that can deliver about 45+ amps at peak. It you choose a lower C rating then which is listed below, the battery will voltage will sag under load and you will not get the 30amps needed for max performance from that motor combo. If you can find it in stock, I would recommend the Turnigy nano-tech or the Gens Ace lipos in the 1800mah 30c range for your application.

Examples:
1500mah x 25c = 37,500 (37.5 amp capacity)
1500mah x 30c = 45,000 (45 amp " ")
1800mah x 25c = 45,000 (45 amp " ")
2200mah x 25c = 55,000 (55 amp " ")

Just a regular afternoon, flying while chatting in our native dialect, very random stuff. I did get some smooth tight loops.
