Yep, it is a SJM400 PRO upscaled to a very exotic looking 500. Detailed specifications to follow shortly as we are still in a late meeting with factory via NetMeeting and this is all "hot off the press", but it looks like 425mm blades. I am on the fence about the motor too, but the head engineer at SJM tell us it offers the best CoG in that configuration. We shall see.

The SJM500 is a product of SJM and the RCT500 is a product of RC-TEK. We have a very close business/engineering relationship with SJM so yes; we will market both heli designs side by side and also develop the sjm500.com web site. Now, we just need to help finalize a canopy design and this beastie will be ready.

Love that 'ball' slide on the flybar. Is that used in other helis?

Thanks

that is slick. Truly just scaled up. Awesome!

If it's anything like the V2 frame then the motor hopefully will be able to be mounted top or bottom. I just noticed I could have done that on my V2 if I wanted to. I think I'd rather have it top mounted personally.

Question for those of you who would know, I noticed that the flybar is above the main blades on this heli. Most 'larger' helis, that I seen, have the flybar under mains. Mostly the 'smaller' helis, I have seen, have the flybar above the main blades. Would this factor into anything about this heli or it doesn't matter if the flybar is either above or below.

Thanks
Rich

OMG i want one! Always liked the sjm design, combined in just the 500 size heli i've been looking for...
But why the hell is the motor down there and not up between main shaft and batteries (like sjm400)?
