My RC History

Wattage Cesnna 180 RTF
Given to me by my brother as a birthday present. Was hooked immediately (childhood dream )

Not a great trainer, but it got me hooked.

Slow Stick - EPS400
Everyones got one! First plane I really felt comfortable flying. Bigger and gentler than the Cessna, gave me a lot of fun learning. My son also learned on it. Loads of fun trying to figure out what you can get a basic R/E/T plane to do!

Motor: Stock EPS-400 6.6:1 stock gearbox, GWS 10x6HD
Battery: 8 cell KAN-950

Wattage "Crazy Max"
Present from my mother, chosen by my brother (sucking me in more and more).
Only had a brief few-second flight - I wasnt ready for full on aileron sport plane
Motor: Stock Brushed
Battery: 8 cell KAN-950

Das Phat Blue Crazy Stick
Made with 1/2" BlueCore and the Crazy Max wing, with added dihedral. My first successful Aileron plane.

Motor: Crazy Max stock Brushed GWS 10x6HD
Battery: 8 cell KAN-950

Crazy Blue Yak
Profile Yak built from 1/2" BlueCore shaped from a Gene Bond design, with the Crazy Max wing, now with the dihedral removed. My first low-wing sport plane. Not a bad flyer for a newbie scratch build!

Motor: GWS 2208-18T
Battery: 8 cell KAN-950

GWS Formosa
Now I get serious about sport-aerobatics. Great fun plane. Flew on several motor configurations

Stock GWS EPS 350, 5.33:1, GWS10x6HD 8cell KAN-950
ARC 130, 6.6:1, GWS 10x6 8cell KAN950 and CSRC 2000mah 8c 3s1p lipo
TowerPro 2409-18 APC-E 9x6 CSRC 2000mah 8c 3s1p lipo

Black Foam Aero
My own design full-fuse, fully symetrical airfoiled wing aerobatic plane made from black Elmers Sturdy Board.

Foamy "Uproar"

Full fuse, wing from Black Foam Aero, styled loosely on Tower Hobbies "uproar" low wing "stik" type plane.

Hans De Vries's 3D 400 SP-400 Aero
First Balsa Scratch Build. From Plan
Thread about the plane including my build here:

Several different power systems have been on this plane
TowerPro 2409-18 APC-E 9x6 CSRC 2000mah 8c 3s1p lipo
SP350 Brusshed (Wattage Mad Max stock motor) w/ 8cell KAN 950 or CSRC 2000mah 8c 3s1p lipo, both with GWS 10x6 HD
Hobby Lobby Esskay SK400XT, CSRC 2000mah 8c 3s1p lipo, APC-E 10x5 or APC-SF 10x3.8 (liked the 10x5 much better)

Stevens Aero Stella
Laser cut kit. Awesome plane! This has been definitely one of my favorites. It has been shattered and rebuilt several times, currently hanging on my wall with a shattered fuselage, waiting for me to order a fuse replacement. Last shatter was too much to repair.

This was also my first experience with Himax motors and Cobri gear boxes, and both are good experiences! I will definitely use this combo again.

Motor :HiMaxx 2025-5300, Cobri 20 gearbox 6.3:1
Battery: PolyRC 3s1p 1200 20c or Tanic 3s1p 2150

Quicker's O2 Scratch Build
Quicker has some very nice designs, and was nice enough to provide scratch build plans for a couple of them for free!

I am not a fan of profiles, but I thought this would be a quick build, and I had no flying planes.. of course, the wing is the part that takes time, so it wasnt a really quick build...

But, I am glad I built it, I really like this plane! Very pattern like, but easy to toss around. Enjoyable build too!

Powered by HiMax 2025-5300 in Cobri 6.3:1

Quicker's Skeeter 30 Scratch Build

After building Quickers O2, I just had to try the Skeeter 30 - and I had a couple of power plants just begging to be in a skeeter!

Built as twins - figured cutting two wouldnt be twice the work!

Have powered with Hobby Lobby SK400XT and's
