I got one about week ago.
Servos were already installed so only had to mount horns and connect pushrods. Quick and easy.

Have flown it only couple times cause weather in here has been kinda s**tty.
For it's price I like it a lot.

Weight with 4x1000mAh nimh-battery (yeah I know... ) is about 235g. Though with that battery no need for lead in nose to fix cg.
I believe the recommended cg position is a bit forward. As this is my first dlg it's ok for now.
Need to install lipo and ubec for receiver later today.

Is it just me, or does that throwingpeg look flimsy? I have the smaller version, and had to redo the peginstallation. No problem since.

Could you weigh the wing and give a feedback? If servos are already installed, please state what kind you are using.

Well hello again..
Throwpeg is the one that came along with glider. I just added a bit of epoxy to fasten it. Now I have done ~30 launches with it and it seems to work fine.
In the attached pic you can see fiberglass strip added to underside of wing to strenghten throwpeg area.

I'll weigh parts separately later today and post results then.
It was attached with 4 servos. I believe all of them are Blue arrow 3.6g.

Bought it from Finnish hobbystore. Price was about 70.

Ippe- just a question. I'm building a SPIN DLG and most DLG's have much shorter servo arms. Seems you would have to dial out a lot of throw, losing resolution at the TX. Just wondering about that ,maybe it makes no difference at all. BTW, thats a great looking sailplane.

Hello all,

It seems that there are a few versions of the Venus.
The Venus Ippe bought has a wooden fuselage with transparent wing covering.
A member of our club bought one with a wooden fuselage and yellow wing covering.
Nothing special here, but his boom was way to flexible. After one hour of throwing it snapped in two what resulted in a total write-off.

At this moment WWW.F3K.nl, the Dutch DLG website, is testing the Venus. http://www.f3k.nl/pages/venuspag.html
This Venus has a fiberglas fuselage and sturdy boom.
First it was tested in standard configuration, straight out of the box.
Maximum 30 to 40 sec flying time from a height of 30 meters.
After some modifications the time more than doubled and the Venus was much easier to fly.
The last tree pictures show the modifications.
-1- Rounded wingtip
-2- Larger vertical stabilizer
-3- Changed the steel pushrods to single-pull (weight reduction)
-4- More dihedral (don't know for sure)

The modifications are:

1. Rounded the wingtips
2. Larger vertical stabilizer (improved the startheight up to 7 meters)
3. Changed the steel pushrods to single pull
4. More dihedral. (there wasn't any)
5. No Ailerons. I removed the servo's en fixed the ailerons with tape.

The weight is reduced from 250 to 222 gram and all the changes are a great improvement.
The average flightimes doubled and now its a joy to fly this plane.

grtz
