Maybe with something like this: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/pro...oducts_id=8247 ?

By the way, for those doing TP25A-W ESC conversions and looking for thin wire for that, they still sell wirewrap wire. Haven't been able to find it over here lately. Did find some old modem cable which had some thin wire which is probably re-usable even if it's quite a bit thicker than wirewrap wire.

Onboard video

Well, I've got to the point I was confident enough in my quad to fly one of my cameras (Canon SD700IS). I went to nearby field and I did 10 minutes flight. Another camera was recording from the ground. The mount is home made and the camera is attached using passive damper system. I did not have the tilt servo connected, so no tilt compensation. The video is a bit shaky for my liking, but I'll let you do the judging.

I've uploaded it on RCMovie since YouTube recently sucks with the quality.

That was awesome! You had to see me sitting here with a huge grin on my face...felt like I was watching one of my favorite flicks! Great work!

As for the shaky video..maybe you should try softening the roll dampening system a bit...I noticed when the MK rolled, your mount lagged a bit.

Man o' man I'm grow sooo anxious

@Nikivan,

Good video. You certainly pulled those kids out of their game And it indeed looks like the camera mount is working against you. You can see the MK flying quite smoothly but the flightcamera image shows much more movement. Maybe an idea to first fly it completely fixed to have some idea of the amount of movement and vibration from the aircraft and then dampen it.

For those interested in even more power than the TP 25A's supply, here's some first pics of the TowerPro 50A ESCs.... PCB size is about 3.5 x 3.5 cm.

A passive camera mount based on 2 different types of foam and elastic was succesfully designed by Old Man Mike in the rcuniverse forum here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_59...tm.htm#5967964
Maybe something from his design could be incorparated that would help further your stabilization. His videos are very good quality. He does use some post processing using Virtual Dub and the Gunnar Thalin Deshaker version 2.2.
Cheers,
Jim

I beieve Old Man Mike's system was designed to cure vibration...Don't think it will do much for roll and tilt stabilization.

Hi All,

I dunno I'm off my computer for a day and what do I see... Lots of questions about my LEDs and music timing, an absolutey WICKED video from nikivan and Arthur P now looking at modding 50A (yes I said 50A) ESCs...

Ok here's my answer to the music/led question... I didn't it was just luck... I didn't even choose the track with the LED flash speed in mind...

Fact is that the LED flash speed can be set using the button on the board, when the lights are first fired up the front one flashes then stays on for about a second.... if during that time you press the button it then starts flashing... holding down the button then makes it flash faster and faster until it rolls round and flashes slowly again... once you've got to the speed you want, release the button and wait for it to flash 10 times... it the goes into "display" mode.

This speed figure is recorded into the Chips EEprom (as well as the last selected pattern) so when you next fire up the system, you don't have to go through that process again.

I guess I like dance music and so when I chose a speed I headed for the "120 bpm" area... which kinda matched the music I chose...

Interesting module though Arthur, might have to get me one of those to experiment with.

@nikivan
Fantastic video, makes me really want to get my mount sorted out... I'll get down the workshop today I think and make a start. Well done.

@Arthur
Watching your 50A esc work with interest. Maybe there will be an option for me to carry my EOS 300D SLR in the future.

Cheers all,

Terry.

Additional Stabilization

What do you all think the addition of this plug-in IR stabilization similar to the Draganflyer would do for the MK?

I can tell you that IR stabilization actually works in wide open areas, fields etc. I had the AP2000i system installed on my Trex 600 which used FMA's CPD4SENUNIT infrared sensor but it's only good in areas that are not populated by structures that give off heat signatures such as buildings etc which could throw off it's IR calibrations and WILL cause you to loose control....happened to me.
