Esky Honey Bee FP Video Thread

Post your HBFP and HBFP mods/variations here! Comments are also welcomed!

I'll start things off. Today, I had four very good flights. Two of my flights were at 7:00 am with calm winds. The following two videos were taken this evening at 7:00 pm in steady 10 mph winds with gusts to 15 mph from the north (from my left). I had my hands full, but I had a great time! Flying the HBFP in the wind can be done. It just takes alot of practice, which most of my practice time is spent on Phoenix RC simulator. I managed to bring the HBFP home without incident. I did have a couple of close calls, but I was able to make the save. As my skills progress, I notice that alot of what have been crashes in the past are now just near-misses. My HBFP is stock with the exception of Super Skids and an 11T pinion.

Anyway, I did have to edit a few sections where my better half had a few problems with the focusing; however, my wife is improving and I'm glad she supports my heli addiction. Enjoy.

This isn't me, but it is the video that made me decide the HBFP is the one for me to start with.

HBFP Brushless Power

Finally... Here is my HBFP flying on the Arc 20-27-80 (Arc 80) brushless motor, GWS DD tail motor and CSRC 800mAh LiPo batteries. It was quite gusty when I filmed this and she had no problem handling the wind. I had a radio glitch (can be seen in the vid) and had enough power after I regained control to recover.

HBFP with Slo-Max 300, M24s and Super Skids

Mrs. racin06 graciously video recorded this evening's flights of my HBFP with the Slo-Max 300 main motor, Kyosho M24 main rotor blades and Super Skids. I really threw the heli around quite a bit during the first flight. I backed off some the second flight because the Slo-Max motor was extremely hot after the first flight. Of course, the 91F temperature with 80% humidity didn't help much either.

Anyway, even though I have to deal with a little tail lag caused by the stock tail motor not quite keeping up with the Slo-Max, this setup flies great. You be the judge.

Century 3D Pro Fixed Pitch

Here's a video of my heli that started out as a Honey Bee fixed pitch. It has since been upgraded with a Century 3D Pro main frame with shaft drive tail. There is more information on my blog:

Nice flying, Chris! We'll have to get together and so some flying in the near future. I primarily fly at Shamrock Elementary School here in Westfield. My 2 videos above were recorded at Shamrock. It's one of the best kept secrets to fly in the Indy area. 10 full size soccer fields, 1 full size football field, 2 youth football fields and 4 baseball fields. The place is literally empty in the evenings and early mornings. I have seen fellow RCers only two guy flying his Sky Fly fixed-winger and one guy with his RC dune buggy. That's it. I would love to get together with some fellow Indy area heli pilots at Shamrock. Anyway, below is an aerial photo of Shamrock just to give you an idea of the flying room.

Thanks for the comments, but my flying pales in comparison to some of the stuff you're doing! I really need to get out to a big field and hone my skills. I just don't have a lot of room to practice in my back yard. Anyway, that school looks like an awesome place to fly. I'd love to meet up there sometime in the near future. I actually live on the south side of Indy, but work in the Fishers area, so it might make sense to fly sometime after work. My brother (who flies a Compy FP) lives on the north side, so maybe we can coordinate a date/time where the three of us can meet!

BTW - Here's a link to my brother's first video of his Compy FP:

Backyard Flying: HBFP - Slo-Max 300, GWS DD Tail w/4530 Prop, Kyosho M24 Blades

Just a little Labor Day evening flight in the backyard. After flying in a large open area for the past few videos, my back yard seemed really small. My intention of this flight was to showcase the slow FF capabilities and the stable hovering of this setup. The winds were calm on this quiet evening. Turn up the volume! This setup sounds fantastic!

That's some nice stable flying racin. Good job!
Here's my attempt at some smooth, slow flying. For those who have forgotten... ... my Bee has been modified with an Arc 80 BL main, Dynam Hughes HG005 blades, and a DD tail with 4530 prop.

For some reasons I don't even fly mine anymore It's been sitting on the shelf for the past 2 month. I put everything new on it and don't even fly it. Here is the last video of my stock HB FP2. The only problem with the stock motor, it doesn't have any power at all. In the video it is completely stock hb fp2 with 2s 800mah lipo
