This is very sad. It's one of the last hobby shops in the east bay area (east side of San Francisco Bay) and easily one of the best.

I'm very sorry to hear this. The closet hobby shop to me is now >30 miles away.

The internet is great but it is killing small businesses.

Dang, I wish I woulda seen this post sooner! I came by on 6/30 when I thought that was going to be your last day in business, and what with everything being 50% off, I made out like a bandit.

I had only just discovered Wold's a week or two previously, but it was obvious from my two visits to the store that these are real nice folks. This late in the game, they were pretty much sold out on RTF planes and there was no helicopter stuff left at all, but what I DID see were several very interesting plane kits that hadn't been sold. We're talking mostly scale replicas of things like Tiger Moths and P51 Mustangs, if I recall, as well as park-flyers and trainers; kits made of balsa wood, designed for four-channel control and engines that run on fuel instead of electricity.

Basically a bunch of really NICE stuff that was way beyond my level of building and flying experience. The thought that any of those kits might now be available for 60% off should motivate the more experienced among us to bombard wlfpkrcn with personal messages. Believe me, you want what he's* got!

*Forgive me for using the male pronoun, wlfpkrcn, if you happen to be Mrs. Wold, as opposed to Mr. Wold himself.
