The Absolute

From Kimble,

"Erik, thread please (or use an old Absolute thread) with your planned setup!

Looking good! Like the red tips, better then just plain white like mine.

Bandit is nice...... Absolute is...... well........"

Okay Kimble, let the fun begin. How's the saying go? Build it and they will come>>>

Here's how this Absolute was born.

I had a mid air with my last. Couldn't find a new one anywhere in the US and didn't like the idea of a single plane International shipping charge.

I'd shared my dissappointment about that to Bob B. about the lack of available Absolutes in the US, and that I was bummed that I'd missed the boat on Jay's order last year.

Well, a few weeks later, I call Bob needing an S14 Fuse. He had it in stock and casually says, "yeah Eric, I got an Absolute for you also, never saw one of these up close before, it looks realy nice, I'll be carrying these now so no worries..."

So, a quick trip the the "candy store" and viola, problem solved.

Now for the drivetrain. Humm. Aveox F27 is looking pretty nice, or????

More to come.

Eric, are you trying to say that Absolute is better/faster plane then Kamelot?
Cause you have had both and your choice is Absolute again.
Or its just ability to stash more LiPos in Absolute ,makes it so attractive.
IMHO shape of Kamelot is much more appling ,sexier if you will,no square wing tips/this part killing me the most/.Otherwise its O.K. I might even jump on one myself but have to sanded down that wing tips.

I love those wing tips!!!! Looks bird like in the air.

Get one, but don't you dare sand them tips!!

The Kamie's got alot more room in the fuse for stashing lipos, but if you don't use it, it's just wasted space, weight and drag.

I origianlly got the Kamie to play with HV setups. But because the ships get heavy with big power HV, I'll go with a model that has wheels for that next time around: F3D style. The Super HV's are coming and I'm imagining long runways will be needed :-)

As for which is better, that just depends on taste, kinda like wing tip shapes.

I just always really liked this plane; the RG15 airfoil flies amazingly well, short span and deep cord, the overall size of the plane, it's speed range and energy retention, stiffness and ability to be outright tortured, and best of all, those gorgeous WING TIPS!!

Both are incredible performers and the Kamie certainly fills a niche.

SHV esc's

Kinda like an HV110 on steroids. -Steve Nue inspired madness my guess :-)

From Neu: "2230 Motor and Castle SHV controller being test run on 18S lithium batteries and a 32/10 prop! "

I mean--how many cells and how current?

I think you need a SSTSC for that.

Okay, back to the Absolute.

I've had a chance to look it over up close and here are some of the plus points I've noticed;

-Wipers on the ailerons look great (don't remember if these were here before)

-Complete hardware package with the good stuff.

-Horizontal stab and wing mate to the fuse very nicely (better than my previous)

-38mm nose cone mates to the fuse perfectly

-motormount allready installed and has room, small gap forward of the mount, for any creative reinforcement desired

-love the access panel design for the tail servo

-extra layer of carbon/kevlar in the fuse where you'd mount a tow hook or landing skeg.

Minus points:

-you'll have to drill two small holes in the wing for the aileron servo leads to enter the fuse. I'll look at the wreckage from the last one and see where I drilled. I figure that'll be a safe spot to re-do the holes since that previous wing had 9 lives. I guess this point is being being pretty picky, ... Not a big deal actually, just akward the first time you do it.

Also, did some calcs on the F27 with 10 and 11 s. Looks speedy with a cut down prop, the built in 3.7 gear drive is nice for gaining some RPM at the prop; probably not enough juice though.

I know little about the F27..... but 3.7 gear sounds good for what you want to do! Keeps the motor RPM down low and allows the use of a smaller prop.

Had to drill the wire exit holes on my wings to. Just check with the fuselage where you can put them. Attached is a picture of where mine ended up for your and anybody elses reference.

Just noticed something else in that video you guys made, there is so much stuff in it!

It has a short blip of you checking the temp on your old Absolute. Or arleast i am guessing it is yours. It has a huge gap at the top of the fuselage to allow the CC 125 to stick outside and into the airflow. Are you going to go this route again? Did you find any big disadvantages by doing this? Did the fuselage lose a lot of torque strength?

Here is where i did my exit hole. It startes just where the trailing edge of the wing finishes. May need something more when i go to 12S on this thing but it will do for now.

P.s. what is wrong with these wing tips???
