I got everything done last night except for installing the gear.

Still not sure which motor to use but I am leaning toward the 24 gram UH motor.

Spent about two hours building the eagle. That includes waiting for sumo glue to cure. It goes together really fast. Then about two hours decorating it.
I just used Krylon fusion rattle can and sharpie.

I just maidened mine this morning - what a great flyer. I used a cheap $7 Emax 2822 and a GPS 9x7 prop. Total weight is 17oz with a 3s 1320 and 19oz with a 3s 2100. Both fly great and the speed envelope is fantastic. Lazy cruise at 1/4 throttle with 45min+ flying time, rockets vertical at full throttle. Flies great on 2s also. My only gripes are the rubberband wing and the lack of cooling air. Great throw and catch plane also. I think a folder would be a good improvement. Also needs more downthrust than comes stock.

Because of the relatively square head I think it may be difficult to use a folding prop without hitting the head when it folds.

I will look at one of mine and see.

I just used the Krylon Fusion brown satin.
And then used black, brown, yellow and orange sharpies.
I know it didn't take as long as RCnimh because a lot of the fill color came from the paint on mine and he filled everything in with sharpies.

That's amazing. Do you have any tips on achieving that effect?

I don't know a way to get hold one at the moment, other than importing it from the US,so I'll wait a while. I'd like to decorate one of my planes with feathers though. If I could get the plans I'd consider making my own Eagle. I've got a 1m span EPP wing doing nothing, that might do for the main section of the wing. I could possibly use Depron for the rest, just because it's a material I can buy fairly easily.

Is there a trick to getting the feathers so regular, or is it just raw talent? If so, I'll give up on the idea right now...

Hi TDEARTH,
Thank you for sharing the v-tail setup with me.

Hi DEADDUCK,
It took me 2 days to finish my artwork.

I vote for Deadduck's eagle for the most realistic artworks ! ! !

Come on guys, we want to see the artwork of your Eagle ! ! !

Yes, I really like those too. Your wing is also very impressive, rcminh.

Does anyone have a 3D view set of pics of the EPP Eagle? I guess if I watch this thread for long enough, I'm bound to see it from every angle though

I just checked out the vids again on the website. Video 3 the eagle is slope gliding the whole time. Motor is off/ prop not spinning. Looks great. I need to get one of these. Just need some money. I have a couple of hex 1209 motors and esc's
https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...idProduct=4852

Would this be a workable motor?

Thanks

Thanks Andy,

It really is not hard to do. The tips of the feathers are already shaped in the wing. Just extend them up.

Actually we in the US had to import them from that outfit in the first post.
No one is carrying them in the US yet as far as I know.

That should be plenty of power. I fly a couple of 14 oz 3 D planes with that motor and they will hover and go vertical for ever.
You won't need for the eagle to hover.
