Help! I have a Vario Silence heli and not sure what motor this is?

I got a good deal on it months ago and sat on it since. I thought it was a Vario motor set due to the Vario ESC but its a Graupner something. What are the specs of motor? Is this a HV ESC?

I think its a brushless motor... Id be disapointed if its not. Different from my Z power though for sure!

Who has flown a flybarless head?
What A123 cells would ya recommend? (Im thinkin 20s1p)
Will A123 fit in the Vario batt holders?

I hear these heli are really efficient with the right power train just not sure what I have right now.

Wny help is appreciated. Thanks

Thats the Graupner Ultra 2000 (Heli version). Definitely a brushed motor. They have a built in fan to cool the brushes, and are actually very efficient motors. It could well be more efficient than many of todays outrunners. Here's a link with more info:

No idea who made the Vario-branded ESCs though, or what they were like.

Yep the Silence was a nice heli for the time and the brushed motor was not bad. I really don't think it is near the same eff as any "decent" BL sold today though.

hey , well I dont know about the motor , but this heli looks kinda like my logo 30 , which Im wondering if they still make hopup parts for this machine , I need a torque tube instead of the wire drive, man that looks like the same gear train as my logo 30,

I have never flown brushed motors what can I ecpect flight/power wise?

I think I'll get some A123s for this and try her out. What the KV of this motor?

Will A123 fit into the Vario batt holders?

Ok and once I choose to step up into brushless land the Z70 should be out and I can use a CC 85HV.

Logo makes all the parts for the Logo 30 right?

And yes I can put TTube tail/ rotor head from a skyfox on this silence. I'll need to replace the wire tail drive eventually I guess.

What will the flight be like with no flybar?

misskimo,

I had to replace the tail drive bevel gears on my Logo 30, and found that Mikado no longer carry them. I then found that Mikado used Vario parts for the tail drive, and sure enough, Vario gear were a perfect match. Those main gears look mighty similar too, except for colour.

Uhh. The Vario Silence is not a Logo 30 sized model. It is pretty close to an ECO 8 in terms of size/weight.

I think it originally flew on an 8 cell nicad pack.

I wouldn't fly it flybarless. That is asking for trouble. Try searching in this forum for "flybarless".

Toshi, I think you are thinking of another heli. The Silence was made for two 10 cell packs and had the batteries on the side like the Logos did. Remember we used its holders for conversions?

Specs out with a 59 in + rotor span, no ECO here

Might need a couple of gyros for the flybarless set up.

here is a video of the silence on it looks like Nicad cells. pretty smooth flyer.

My blades are more of a flat bottom shape so i bet it helps run time and scale, smooth flight. It takes a very skilled pilot to fly no flybar?

hey , hey tosh, its not a eco 8 size dude! looks like one though , the logo 30 is one of the lightest out there untill I seen this one , a set of tp long pack 3800s , I bet it would weigh around 8 1/2 LBs RTF

Doh! You're right. I'm thinking of the Kalt Whisper.
