Tell me how you like MAXX 1000mAh NiMH cells

I've searched but found little hard data..
I don't need opinions (I've read a few of those), but experience using these cells - particularly max current draw.
I'll be using mine in my Slow Stick (at first)
Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback!

Well, they charge on auto mode in my I2 at 3.5A (max) - that pretty much speaks for itself. Using a 6-cell pack, my Slow stick (300 setup) flies 30 minutes on a charge. Power was more than adequate - almost vertical when needed, but running at 1/3-1/2 throttle in real slow flight. Boring as heck, of course, doing 100+ laps of an indoor soccer arena, but I wanted to see what duration I'd get. Voltage drop is minimal, power is lost suddenly with little indication that it's dropping. Good and bad, I guess.

Not so New Anymore....

Hi Andy,

I started a thread a few days ago asking about comparisons between the Maxx 1000 and HeCell 1100, but I didn't get any replies (either)!

I'd like to get some more facts/specs on the Maxx cell if you run across any.

FYI I got some HeCells the other day and made up an 8-cell pack, the pack weighs exactly the same (6 oz even) as the 8-cell Maxx 1000 pack. Running the two packs hard in my slowstick (well, as hard as you can in a Slowstick) I can tell absolutely no difference in the performance. To me the Maxx cells seem at least as good.

Regards,

Ron

Just a plane Junkie
Well I don't know if this info is any help, but I did some static testing of the HE cell and Maxx 1000 cell.

10X4.7 APC SF prop, Hacker B20-15L + 4:1, room temp was 70 degrees.

9 cell HE 1000/1100
Charged at 1C took 1070mah. (has about 12 cycles on it)
12.51 volts before
12.09 volts 5 minutes after
Peak: 14.4 amps
After 5 seconds: 14.0 amps

9 cell Maxx 1000
Charged at 1C took 1081mah. (has 4 or 5 cycles on it)
12.12 volts 5 minutes after
Peak: 14.9 amps
After 5 seconds: 14.5

Both packs were ~60 degrees before and slightly warm (~70) after the test.

In flight I haven't been able to tell any differences either, but it was only my first day of actual flights on the Maxx 1000. I had a 15 minute flight (BEC never cut me off, i perceived a slight power sag and landed) with the Maxx 1000 9 cell pack on a 4:1 geared sp400 (8X6SF) Wingo on floats, just loafing around for splash and goes.

One thing that didn't work -- I had 6 leftover HE cells and wanted a 9 cell pack so I tried combining 3 Maxx 1000's and the 6 HE's (all cells were discharged and had the same voltage). The pack would never take more than an 800mah charge and wouldn't discharge more than ~700. Oh well.
