Eco 16 Gallery, build and setup data

Please post your setup- battery, esc, motor, pinion, blades, actual headspeeds and any other relevant details- and PICS!

Since I replaced 99% of my original Eco8 kit, I have close to what I need to get a totally stock Eco8 flying. I intend to eventually convert it into an Eco16. I intend to use either an Orbit 20-12 or 20-16 motor and 4S 3700 lipos, since those are what I have in the parts bin.

Hmmm, I guess there's not many ECO 16's out there.

Thanks for posting, RC4. Do you think hs81's would be enough servo for 120* cyclic control? I'm guessing not.

For cyclic, I think that one could get away with the HS-81'S on say the ECO 8, but for the ECO 16, the HS-85's I would say would be better.

Agreed, my Eco-16 flew with the HS-85's for a bit until it got cannibalized. They have developed some horrible slop though . I'm actually thinking of going again with the Futaba S3102's, as with my Eco-8. I'd rather have the extra torque, especially when I start flying again with the longer blades. The trade-off is lower speed.

Here's my old setup Gadget (highly NOT recommended... hehe):
> Kontronik FUN600-15 with 15t pinion
> Kontronik 3SLH 30-10-32
> 12-cell 2600mAh NiMH pack
> Stock Eco-16 woodies (545mm)
> MS tail blades
> HS-85 servos for cyclic
> GY401 and HS-81 servo

Very underpowered, although it flew around fine. This was a good floater setup and, although sluggish, it felt pretty stable in the air. Here's the only video I have of this setup:

My new setup should be much more lively. We'll see. Will post it here once I'm done with it.

Chachin..

It was my 3rd year in a row attending the annual 3-day concert festival held at the famous Nurburgring racetrack. We camped out Thurs, Fri, and Sat night amongst 79,998 others- many of whom were in various stages of "influence."

Of Friday's lineup, we saw Muse, Linkin Park, and the White Stripes. Of Saturday's lineup, The Smashing Pumpkins and a little bit of Slayer (as a matter of curiosity). After packing up on Sunday, in the face of multiple forms of exhaustion, we stayed for Velvet Revolver and then left after the beginning of Korn's not-so-impressive performance. Linkin Park was easily the highlight of the event.

Various fixed and rotory aircraft were buzzing around overhead for a bird's-eye-view of the action, to include an autogiro! It was the first time I had actually seen one live. It made me want one all over again.
