AMA and non-R/C regulations and city regulations

Look up your municipal code, and see what it says. Does it say anything regarding following AMA guidelines? Well, if you're flying a tiny 1 foot span rubber band model, you just might have a misdemeanor, will have to pay $800 dollars in fines or land numerous days in jail. According to the AMA's limited and shallow bylaws, you cannot fly a free flight model unless you're at least 100 feet downwind of spectators or a parking lot. And sometimes, the city does not even have a designated flying area. That means you cannot even fly a paper airplane without committing a misdemeanor, as the city just might say you can only fly models in designated areas. So, is up with these shallow incomprehensive laws? I thought we're supposed to be law abiding citizens, and not challenge the city laws or they'll just get inclined to ban model flying altogether. (I really wish this site didn't have censoring.) Why have we let this sub-culture of law-mongering fools take over our country? Hell, I can think of things far more dangerous than model flying and there are no substantial safety regulations. AKA baseball, football, basketball, etc. Why don't we just stop giving a and let people have fun with their hobby! We're being forced into coughing up more cash than is necessary, and even the politicians think if we really support something we need to put money on the table, or we don't care. Well, so much for democracy. We need something better. I'm getting sick of all these fools and idiots on this planet. I refuse to settle for a compromise, it's either my way or jarvis island.

Ahh. I feel much better now, just had to get that out.

Nah, but I feel I may need to get on a prescription of lithium pills. I had to spew, digital version of screaming into a pillow seems to work much better when you get to slam the keys. Off to smell the flowers.

edit: I went outside and threw a paper airplane. Muahahahah! Ahh, breaking the law makes me feel so ALIVE!

So, what control do the AMA safety code RECOMENDATIONS have over what a municipal governmental rule or lawmaking agency does? I've never heard of the AMA having any control over a governmental agency. What's the connection here? Has your municipality decided to take the safety code suggestions and write them into local law?
