What are the experiences?
Usually nose or tail heavier the Manta when it is ready?
I use lightest possible electronics for DLG and I'm always tail heavy (still learning how to build a light and strong tail).

Nose heavy is less of a problem because of the 1:4 ratio on the moment arm. Every 4 grams on the nose only need 1 gram on the tail to balance.

If possible, you might want to consider light weight electroincs to keel the all up weight down. To keep the weight down, I remove the RX case and replace the antenna wire with the thinnest metal wire I could find.

I think I leave this half with this weight, I don't want to make it too weak with more lightening holes, now it's strong enough.

Okkay, the other half of the wing is 59 gramms. The aileron is 13 gramms, so I make a new instead of the heavy one. With these the wing weight will be ~120 gramms and ~130 with the covering

I've made a boom during the night, (i never done it before) 3 layers of 25g/m2 glass and 4 carbon roving. It's 21 gramms.

Edit: One hour later...

Congraduations! That's a new record low for Manta wing weight.

Love that RDS for balsa DLG. Keep us posted on your progress.

One wing is almost ready, the other is started.

Unfortunatelly it is a little heavier than I expected. It's 130 gr without carbon rowing; launch peg and covering. It will stop around 160-170g with servos, but its will be very strong, so I can launch it with full power .

For the next wing I will use lighter and thinner balsa

Maybe I will buy a small RX and smaller battery to keep the weight down. Next week Monday the pods will be ready from glass.

One of my acquaintance has a scheme to make one, end it looks great too.

What are your opinion?
May I lighter the end of the wing?
I mean cut holes into the wingtips like Smash did, than stick a thin carbonlayer on it. Maybe I can save a few grams on it...

Szevasz! (╔rtekezhetnÚnk az otthoni fˇrumon is!)

In my opinion You can make lightening holes into the wingtips, it won't be too weak, but You can save 7-8 gramms. I've measured my tips before/after.

That should be no problem. In Rendy's Manta, the wing tip is actually sheeted balsa like the regular Dbox. It's all hollow inside his wing tips although it looks like solid balsa from outside.

I've made the fuse, it's 21 gramms (2 layer 80 glass and one 25) and with the boom is ~45 gramms.

I'm thinkin about the RDS now.

On the weekend I go to an F3B competition so I won't able to work on the Manta
