Created because I couldn't find one that showed every step with detail. Found some great info on several threads but not what I needed. I hope you find it helpful in your build.

The proof is always in the video so I'll do that first. I'll then post remarks as to what I'd do different as I post each section of the build. No sense in you making my mistakes.

My average take off attempt started out straight and then came across a clump of grass or dried out mud puddle and that would veer the direction of the model and slow it or send it toward rough ground I didn't want to be on. With a nice even surface and decent grass you could expect what you'll see in the good take off video shown after the typical failed one. I've ordered more lipos to get me into a 10S situation instead of 8s and that will likely help get me up sooner also.
My landings are a little bouncy but this jet is still new to me.

When installing the dowl for the VS;
Center a hole on the VS top equal to the dowl's diameter. Put VS in place on plane and use a pen to mark where to drillon bulkhead. Remove necessary FG and drill small pilot hole then put VS back in place to check the pilot hole is centered with the dowl hole you drilled in the VS. If centered then drill out pilot hole to dowl size.

Upon opening servo cut out I noticed that the support that runs at leading edge of aileron inside wing was not attached to both sides of wing as it appeared to be not wide enough. I added an equal length piece of CF with GG (gorilla glue) smeared on it. Worked well.

For connecting the push rods from the servo to the seperate control surfaces I would highly recommend getting the Graupner "Dual rod connection lock". This device appears to allow you to slide all three rods to the sweet spot and then lock them in place. Makes this all much easier and will save several hours if you are slow like me. I couldn't find it so I went the difficult route.

Power systems. Lots of choices for 90mm fan and motor combo. I bought two to try. Here are the results.

Tested the Airpower 90mm fan on their supplied outrunner (1400Kv) from Airpower and on Mega 22/30/3 E (1050Kv) motors. Same HV85 esc used for both.
They do not provide an inlet lip so this was a naked fan/motor just mounted on my test stand with no inlet or exhaust. Done for comparison.

All lipos fully charged before test. Fan/motor combos balanced and tested many times to make sure there was no rubbing during tests.

The mega motor combo seems to run with very little vibration and is much quieter. The speed of the fan could be the volume difference. The Amp draw is MUCH less with Mega. Didn't see the motor cross 98F during testing.

The Airpower motor reached 104F during testing. Not really an issue I don't think. The noise level made me deaf for the day. Serious ringing in the ears! Just really high pitched noise. You can go 6s here so perhaps less weight but factor in twice the amp draw and now you need larger batteries.

Tested AP900 on Mega 3E at 9s.

Works great. Here's what I got.

Now tested IN the jet with all ducting. Amps go up by about 2 amps and thrust goes up 6 oz. which is pretty sweet.
