Nice job Terry! The video came out nicely. Thanks so much for sharing. Looks like a very fun setup.

I'm hoping to maiden my Mini-Demon sometime this week. I programmed my CC Phx-25 tonight. Need to solder the motor connector, linkages, design winglets and glue them on. I'm in the home stretch and am itching to maiden it!

Terry that video was awesome, I think you showed how a great maiden should go, you went through all the checklist and I think others will find this valuable.

That wing was rippin! It sure yanked and banked like crazy! Now I must have my own!!!! Great catch!

I have only flown my FS48 twice. I had my CG about a 1/4" behind the leading edge at the wing root. felt sluggish to me but not sure if it was the CG or my servos. My throws were pretty big and referenced from Adam(Atom1025) at 3/8" up and down for elevator and ailerons (3/4" total deflection). I think Adam just used this deflection for elevator and half that for aileron. We both used 1.5" aileron stock.

Adam has many flights.

yep. even though I added 2" to the nose to help with balance, it still took me ~6oz of weight to achieve CG. I also went up on batt size to 3S 3700mah. auw 39oz. wish I would have added 6" now. I think PaulVi added 4" but I haven't heard his auw yet.

Can someone help clear a few grey clouds with my electrics set-up?

Set-up is TL50, 4S2P2100evolites, Mega 16 15 4 , CC60esc, Bec, Opto-isolator, cap, receiver ar7000, efliernz lipo alarm.

1.) Where is the CG on a TL50
2.) Do I need a bec if I use a receiver pack.
3.) Do I need a cap on the receiver if I run a receiver pack

4.) Should I forget the receiver pack and stick with seperate bec, opto-isolator, cap. (I already have all the bits)
5.) If I use the external bec, do I have to take the red wire out of the esc>receiver plug?

I think I can correctly answer a few of your questions.
1: CG is 8" to 8.25" as a starting point.
2: No
5: Follow the directions for your bec.

aaron07,
I use a BEC on my TL50 even though I'm using a 2s 300 mah lipo rx pack. If you are using a 2s Lipo pack than the are roughly 8.4 volts fully charged. I would think you would want to bring the voltage back down to 5 or 6v depending on the BEC you use.

I am using the 2s lipo, bec and opto isolator on the ESC. When you are going as fast as you are having that extra assurance is a nice thing.

Atom1025 built TL 50 W/ 5t mega 16/15....4s

Got to maiden the other plane Adam built for me. CK was there to give some visual advice and launch for a happy maiden. I have 2 4t TL 50's and a the very lite one ( very fun set up ), so I decided to go with a 5t on 4s w/ 7X5 prop, for a little torqier set up, cuz I luvz the TL fity'z. I had a wing with a 5s before, and for my style of flying, it's fun........not blazzing speed, but nice long runs with some grab. The colors are very visable......I can almost fly it at night. If 2s 2p batts are dedicated to a TL 50 and strapped together........you're good to go with velcro. I got's lots of set ups and I like to keep my batts separate, so I can use them elsewhere. I asked Adam if he could come up with a mechanical locking system instead of velcro..........and he came up with this pin system that REALLY WORKS well. The pins slide into a coro flute. Velcro works fine for about the first 100 flights, then I pich a batt and realize I have to replace the velcro.

Damn man, That wing is a looker!! That might be the best looking 50 I have seen yet. It is almost as purty as my 60 Adam built my 60 and did a fine job. Looks as if he kicked out another masterpiece. Enjoy!

Glad to hear the maiden went well!

very cool looking 50, Terry. Adam sure did a good job with the color scheme.

what was the auw on this one? I have a set of 50 cores and my original thought was to just replace the older beater, but this could be cool too.
