Exellent work as usual Adam!! That's not ugly at all and looks like it could be a real fun plane. I've been doing a little tuning on the Klingon TL 50 I got from you.........I know it was one of your first builds, it has a lot of potential!!

Here's an instructional vid on the Salmon https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=770268

I meant the exposed rods are ugly Not really but not as cool as the buried rods.

Thanks Terry! Glad your still enjoying the klingon 50

My salmons still need work. I am just not 'feeling it" as you put it. I Know what I gotta do, it just has'nt clicked yet. Then again I have only flown the big guys once since you were here. Flying solo is just to boring after our adventure.

There's no shame in exposed rods.........I think buried rods look great, but a little bind can really throw things off. At 100 mph..............who can tell by looking!!

Very nice job Atom, great weight. Should fly well and be fast. I'm working on a 40 right now trying to get everything forward as well but don't think I can get my weight much under 32oz with 2 3s2100s.
Has anyone tried the ACC motors from lightflight rc? I've been looking at the long can 2w w/60A controller for $78. They say its good for 40A and 500W but don't know of anyone who has used them.

Yup awesome motor, after a hard 15+ min flight at 40-50 amps the motor comes down at 130* on a hot summer day.

To be honest the TL flies best heavier. Anywhere from 40-50 oz it will track the best. The lighter ones tend to be touchy as heck and the tracking not as great.

So why am I doing this so light. I say why not. I would like to know first hand the affects of different weights. Call me crazy but I like to experiment.

CK not sure if your in Vegas this weekend at the show or not, but I'll ask anyway. Any plans of releasing something on a smaller scale simmilar to the SkyVak? Not sure what the wingspan is on your Skyvak, but a nice lil 36" would be nice.

I don't know if y'all remember my broken spar fix, but I been flying the heck out of it. I got 17 hard flights in since the repair, and the wing doesn't have any flex to it. If it was a complete snap, I don't think it would have worked. I would guess this would work if you had up to 3/4 horizontal shatter and 1/4 complete snap. This plane is flying great and is my fav-o-rite Ritewing now.

I think HS 225's may be a little weak for a fully built TL 50.......they work, but if you think extreme........go for a little more torque. CK did drop some digi's in this bird, so it's cool

Run those 225s on a 6v bec, a lot of the weakness may be contributed to where it attaches to the horn.

Mum is the word!

Ok guys I just got confermation that I can get the batteries configured 4s and 6s 5100 flat pax , just like the way we gang them up.
The 4s will have spacers between the cells for cooling since there is room,it only adds one MM.The will be 4s 5100 cells with one ballancer lead not two seperate pax anymore.
The 5100 6s with one 6s ballancing tap instead of 2 3s taps, the thickness will be 26 mm thick so I will not use spacers.
These will look like the same dimensions of the ganged up 2s and 3s pax.Much easier to ballance ,and deal with at appx 70.00 bux cheaper or more dep on the pack.It only cost 5 bux extra to get them built like this.

The question is now do you guys want some of these pax configured like this?If anyone wants some shoot me a pm. Here is the single pack prices..
ck
450 3s dims mm 12/30/48 23.00 ea 12 g per cell

1k 3s 20 c 18/35/62 28.00ea 26 g per cell

4k 2s 20 c 16/45/150 80.00 ea 110 g per cell

4k 3s 20 c 24/45/150 120.00 ea 110 g per cell

4.6k 2s 20 c 16/45/150 85.00 ea 118 gr per cell

4.6k 3s 20 c 24/45/150 115.00 ea 118 gr per cell

5100 2s 20 c 17/47/180 90.00 ea 125 gr per cell

5100 3s 20 c 26/47/180 120.00 ea 125 gr per cell

the custom 6s 5000 is 26 mm 95 mm 180 mm 245.00

the custom 4s 5000 is 19 mm 95 mm 180 mm 185.00

Hi there,
I need some solid advice on my current batteries. I don't want to invest on any as I already have 10.
I fly a 4S Trex 450 (heli) and I'd like to know what kind of performance to expect with the following configeration on a TL50:

Q1.) Can I rig either A or B, 2 in series as 8S2P?

Battery A:Thunder Power 14.8V 2070 51A cont./82 bursts 34x112x34. 210g
Battery B:FLight Power 14.8V 2100 37.8A cont./58.8A burst 33x114x28 185g

with:
Castle Creations 60A
Bec 3A
Mega 16 15 4
Prop 6x4
DS 821 servos
(As per CK reccomendation.)

Q2.) What kind of flying time should I expect?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
