The REVERT fastest build flat sloper wing (plank)

The REVERT concept wing was inpsired by the "Kline-Fogelman Airfoiled Flying Wing" thread started by Tony65x55. Here is the link;

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=558321

Special props to Viking60 for his heat smashing the LE concept.

See his site at;

http://www.stenulson.net/rcflight/slimbeag.htm

This is the simplest sloper I have built yet! It's fun and vary acrobatic. Plans will be up shortly.

SPECS:

MATERIAL: Fan Fold Blue foam or Depron (6mm)
WINGSPAN: 36"
CHORD: 6.5"
ELEVONS: 2"
NOSE: 4.5" from LE to tip
WEIGHT: about 4.5 oz
BATTERY: 150mah NIMH
SERVOS: (2) Dymond D47 (4.7gr)
NOSE WEIGHT ADDED: 1/2oz to nose
CG: 1.25" from LE
REFLEX: about 1 degree (if any)
ELEVATOR THROWS: about 12-15% (of total throw)
AILERON THROWS: about 30% (of total throw)

EDIT: 2/6/14
First one of the three original Revert Videos found and uploaded.
I guess I didn't edit in any sound. Sorry about that.
LOST AND FOUND, Revert DIY Homemade Flat Foam RC Flying Glider Wing (2 min 14 sec)

**NEW** 4/5/14
It's an exciting day, we have a new potential airfoil concept that may make the Revert the amazing flyer that it was designed to be.
Also making a few new modifications like more wingspan, better canopy design, new tail feather and amazing new RX battery.
Video and pics hopefully up in a day or two.
Stand by, the REVERT 3.0 is on it's way!!!

The REVERT video

Here is a quick video of the REVERT. Fan fold foam sliced up on Friday night in 20 minutes, electronics installed in 10 minutes Saturday morning, and test flown. This is the maiden flight;

Hope you enjoy!

Wow, nice job. Amazing agility. Great flight characteristics. Simple, simple.

Gotta know more. Keep it coming.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Twisted Sheets! It is that never ending pursuit for simplicity. So far this concept is looking good. If I would have known it would work so well, I would have dressed it up a bit, LOL!

I just received an email from Dick Kline, the inventor of this airfoil design. Here is what he said, hope you don't mind Dick;

Troy...

I was very impressed with your KF Sloper!
I am the inventor of the Kline-Fogleman airfoil
and it has taken me only forty years for people to
accept the capabilities of this airfoil. It changes
all the rules of aerodynamics and its hard for
people to accept that.

The KF Sloper looks very agile indeed.
Also, there was no dihedral. I couldn't get over
how close you flew to the ocean, but it seemed
to handle with ease. Just like a bird.

It seems to cut through the air extremely well
and it looks like you have total control over it.

I SALUTE YOU!!! Thanks for making my day.

Troy,as soon as you post the plans,I'm going to make a few of these for some park fun for my friend and I. Of course we need motors I think but If the wind is up maybe not. Can't wait to try it out!

Fantastic and simple. I have no slopes here in the flat lands of Nebraska so I would need a powered version... Upcoming? Now you know they fly so well it is time to dress them up with some rad graphics!

Revert Plans

OK - here is the plan sheet. It is a .pdf file and is to scale. Sheet size is 40'wide x 36" tall. I will try and "tile" the plan as soon as I figure out how

This planform can be powered with ease off of the nose. Adjust the battery for balance. This plane wouldn't need much more than a 370 or 100watts to scream. I am running the NEW Eflite 250 on another wing and it rips.

All the best and thanks for trying this thing,

Troy

Troy, building one of these with a cheap speed 300 now. Hope to test fly later on.

Troy. The Revert looks like a winner,but.... check your carbon tube spar diameter do you rearlly mean 2.25 " ? Should the flat carbon spar be vertical .Is the spar "let" into the lower wing surface

Will work for foam

With a reconfiguration of the tail fin, this may make a pretty good SAL/DLG glider also.

Dekan - looks like you found a typo. I am checking it now, it should be a .225" spar or a flat spar. I put a flat carbon fiber spar vertically (1mm wide x 5.7mm tall and 28" long) on the "CG" by simply cutting a slit in the foam with an exacto knife into the lower wing

Any reienforcement would work. Round .225" carbon tubes seem to be the most common for flat foam and would work fine.

As for the tail, it may even be simpler to just FOAM SAFE CA glue or GOOP the tail directly to the top of the plane....... Trying this idea this weekend.
