Slowstick Wings and Wheels
A couple more questions after my second flight:
1. Is there any reason not to leave the wings rubberbanded on the plane when I store it each day? It's quicker to get started that way, but I was wondering if that would fatigue the rubber bands sooner or put undue stress on the foam wings? 2. Where's the best place to buy the foam wheels for the Slowstick? For those of you that have switched to the foam wheels, have you switched the landing gear and tail wheels, or just the landing gear? My takeoff this evening, which is now big #2, was much better than the first one. I was able to takeoff from a school asphalt track, so the surface was much smoother. Based on everyone's comments, I was much more aware this time of overcontrolling on the takeoff too. So, the combination of a smoother, faster takeoff surface and a bit of experience yielded a much more normal 20 degree angle takeoff. I even did a loop and a ugly looking roll this time. Thanks for your help. Barry |

1. Im usually too lazy to remove the bands, but yea its good for the plane. And the bands! You dont want birttle bands holding on the wings
2. Darnit I forgot the site where I got my wheels again. But I know the name. Its Northeastern Sailplane products. Someone here knows it im sure You can even choose colors! And if you get to the site, its the large wheels, not the small ones. Here are the wheels on my SS |

Whats really great is that you can use the wire that comes with the plane. It fits right on. These things are so light. (5 grams a pair) Yep they're good wheels. And a followup yea I use the tailwheel cuz its fine most of the time.

The Northeast Sailplane wheels look pretty cool, although I'm a bit concerned because they're smaller (2.5") versus the 3" stock wheels. If you ever go with the 12 x 6 prop, would these smaller wheels cause a problem? Has anyone looked at or tried the 3' Dubro wheels http://www.shopatron.com/product.pht...0SL&mfg_id=101 . They are more expensive but they are a full 3" in diameter.

These are the one's I've got coming. I'll have to make new gear and/or use some tubing to act as a bushing, since the hub is wider and larger ID than the stock wheels, but the look is too sool not to use them.

Do the Dave Brown wheels need any bushings or modifications to fit on the landing gear wires that come with the Slowstick. It looks like the foam lites are for 1/8" axles and the slowstick landing gear wires seem to be about 1/16". Doesn't that make for a lot of wobble in the wheels?
