SoCal: TPG Summer Fun Fly Series at Torrey Pines

http://www.torreypinesgulls.org/funfly.htm

Thought I'd cross post this here. Thursday evenings after work, whenever that may
be for you. Check the schedule, because some weeks will be at the club
thermal field instead of the gliderport.

I highly recommend the Thursday evening if you haven't flown Torrey. It's
much less crowded than the weekend. So, those who don't like to fly on
the weekends actually find it enjoyable.

Apr 26th... good turnout, lots of planes in the air, a bit more floaters than typical due to the
extra soft air.

03MAY2007 fun fly 2

Another week, another fun fly. One pilot got his 1 hour slope flight in for LSF level 2.
Look at how blurry his eyes musta been.

28JUN2007 Torrey Fun Fly

Very excellent evening of slope soaring at Torrey. Wind was just right earlier in the evening
and slightly south, enough for anything but the lead sleds. Check out the wind sock all slackers
who didn't come out.

A couple of new guys I hadn't met before, Aaron and Brian, were out with a nice Salto and a
new Triangle. The Triangle will be a great summer evening slope plane, as the weight is
almost nothing. There was a bit of wing warp that the test flight revealed that will be removed
with a covering iron.

Steve and Parviz explored the problematic bowels of wiring in one model.

Check out the SPORTER servo covers on the Easy glider! With the skeg, that is one serious
competition plane! Actually, Parviz installed the covers on the club trainer, because it really
helps prevent damage to the aileron linkages. A great idea for a nice plane.

Later in the beautiful evening, the wind tapered down, but there was lots of floaty air and
faint bubbles Parviz and I explored with a couple of HLGs. I wonder if that kind of flight
helps with the contest flying...

Hope to see everyone out there again next week!

05JUL2007 Torrey

1 at Poway thermal field for every 3 at Torrey. This coming week on the 12th is at the thermal
field. (See club website for map.) The week after that on the 19th is back at Torrey for 3 weeks.

Here's the pics Bill sent me from the 5th. Hope to see plenty of folks at Poway and again the
following weeks at Torrey. BTW, it probably was almost that dark when Moose finished flying.
The sunset push occured, as usual, and his sailplane was flying great.
