dek, any progress on your build? I started a 75% version today for some high-speed fun.

Now i've gotta start thinking of what motor/prop/batt combo to use. The max prop size that will fit is 6", and i've got a C20 2900kv and BW's ranging from 1300-4000kv to choose from. Anyone got any ideas or recomendations?

Not started yet Si, I am finishing my Superfly and a Flyingwings V tail , I am going to use a Emax CF 2805 motor 6x4 Apc, 18A ESC,
Spoke to Andy at Robotbirds the other day, he tells me that the BW 1700Kv is being used with the Freeair jets with success. Worth a try as it a little lighter than the Emax.
Weight is in IMO very important with a pusher. Keep me posted on the placement and size of the CF used

dek, sounds like you're in 'wing' mode at the moment . It's looking like mine will be finished tomorrow, it's a very easy model to build. I've used an 8mm tube mount, so I can try a few motor and prop combos to see what gives good results, the 1700kv sounds like a good place to start. It's looking like the AUW minus lipo is going to be around 100g. For now i've put a single 3mm cf tube from tip to tip just ahead of the verticals (same position as Toms). I'll post some photos once the glue dries.

Thanks Si, I am very close to finishing the S.Fly just need to test fly to sort the battery position out .
The V tail is about 2/3rds finished So......not long to Cutlass building.100grms sounds very good. At that weight I could use my Hacker 10-15s....interesting...!
I will have to order some 3mm tube. I will try your carbon source

Mini Cutlass

I finished the Mini Cutlass today, it came out a little heavier than anticipated (don't they always ), but hopefully it'll still fly nicely.

Specs :

22" wingspan
166g (5.8oz) AUW incl. TP2S730

Rx : Spectrum AR6100
Esc : CC TB9
Servos : 2x UH VS-6
Motor : 2500kv Blue Wonder from Robotbirds.co.uk
Prop : 5x3 APC

The above setup produces ~230g thrust @ 6A

Unfortunately i've had to add 14g of weight to the nose to get the cog somewhere close (this is included in the AUW above).

I should get chance to maiden it over the weekend, so i'll let you know how it flys.

FT.

I got my 3mm from Slofly last year, sorry should have said earlier . I'll have a look and see if I can find a decent price on some from elsewhere else.

I really like the looks of the mini cutty as the size is correct for my equipment as all but 3 of my b/l weigh under 20 gr( about 15). Any chance at getting the tiled pdf scaled at 75%.

Just take the PDF, on a floppy or USB memory stick, to your copy shop and ask them to print it at 75%. Works for me.
Pick a copy shop that prints plans for real estate people/engineers etc.

Denile, Here are the plans I modified to build the 22" version out of 9mm EPP. It's scaled down to 75% of the original size, the slots in the verticals have been increased to 9mm and the 'under wing doublers' have been changed to allow for a 9mm fuselage.

Si,I forgot about the width of the Epp. Well spotted.
What are you using to hinge with, is the same tape you sent me?
Do you hot glue your esc on? If so does the heat of the esc when working tend to soften the glue?

dek, hinges are done with filament tape (the tape I sent to you) the full length of the elevons, top and bottom. I like to have the esc 'floating' so that the air can get around it to keep it cool. I just put tape (Blenderm in this case) across the input and output wires close to the PCB to hold it in place.

Wow that Mini-ME Cutlass looks good.. The strapping tape is great for the hinges.
