RC-Tek Phantom 450 XL Build Thread

This is a build thread of the new Phantom 450 XL from RC-Tek.

I want to let everyone know up front that RC-Tek provided the kit and I paid for everything else.

The following equipment will be used for the build:

Airtronics RD6000 Super Transmitter
Castle Creations Berg 7P Receiver
RC-Tek RCT-BM450 3500Kv Brushless Motor
RC-Tek RCT-40A Speed Controller
Futaba GY240 Gyro
Waypoint W-092MB Servos for the cyclic
Waypoint W-092SH Servo for the tail
DN Power 11.1V 2150mA 20C 3S1P Li-Po Battery

I was surprised to find out after making the deal to do the build thread that the kit is 70% assembled. This is amazing for the price (98.95 intro price).

The quality of the kit is pretty good.

I will get started on the build soon. I am going to a Heli fun fly tomorrow if the weather cooperates. If not I will get going on the build.

Sorry for the delay.

I have been spending some time loosening the links up in the head and installing the servos. The Waypoint servos fit great.

I use waypoint servo's in my MX450, they were recommended by Terry at Hoverhobbies, how do you like them? Have you ever used them in any other applications? The waypoints are small and fit right in the smaller servo openings of some mini's perfectly.

W-092MB $22.80 30 oz torque speed .13 sec

HS-65MG $35.99 25 oz torque speed .14 sec

These are prices from Hoverhobbies and running the servos at 4.8v

The W-092SH I use on the tail is $17.80 17 oz torque speed .09 sec

Guys, I hate to sound negative about this but it seems to me like alot of new kits coming out these days look like a trex. I would swear some of these parts even come from the same factory. They look absolutely identical! Am I crazy here?
