Radio Control ARTF Kits used by Rebels in South America fitted with Explosives(BAD)

Yup it was in the local paper all off the shelve gear as was radio's they were found packed with plastic explosives ready for use in Columbia I think it was.

This doe's not BODE well for the Hobby can ya imagine what the media would do with this if they werre bored and had no news. Ypu would be the local Terrorist.

Don't laugh it only takes something like this to really cock it up for everyone.

Cheers Sluf7

I've already had the police come visit me in my backyard flying my Mini Max. They reckon they wanted to know about the car next door but me wonders if they were just keeping an eye on lil ol' me. luckily I did a perfect landing in front of them and didn't wack into their patrol car. Oh the pressure of performing in front of spectators (especially ones in uniform and packing heat)!

C'mon Sluff this is a joke isn't it, some pissed journo wandered past a Model shop with a Jack Higgens reject novel in his pocket and he thought of this, what a joke. An appaling joke given last weekend but a joke all the same. The whole process would be as accurate as cow pat hurling. And it's with an explosive force of the odd grenade or two. At the range of 1000 Meters I bet you wouldn't be within 50 meters. It's a joke. You've been sucked in , it's a joke

All 2 pounds of it............................will someone set of the shyte alarm please...... and get a garbage bag for this plane.............

This was mentioned before, here. A genuine story.
But.. it does require some skill to fly the plane, and proximity to the selected target, so the "advantage" of remote control kinda goes away.
Take less effort to mail the bomb.

Small video camera on plane = improved accuracy at any range.

Look for the AMA to have in place a way to ground all RC planes like they did on 911 to all the big jets.

No joke they are working on it now.

I believe they are more worried about chemical weapons deployed on RC than explosives.

The AMA has no regulatory powers over RC flying, only rules to follow if you want your insurance to be valid. Just look at the guy with his 70% 300lb staudacher; he has no need for the AMA. The FAA is what governs all flying. The AMA is talking about working with the FAA to define what separates RC planes from UAV's. With some planes getting bigger and bigger I can understand their concern. If no limit is defined the FAA may decide to start regulating all RC flying, not something that I particularly want.

Nup it's the real deal of the Wire from the Good ole U.S of A I tried to find the paper it was in but can't might go library tomorrow see if I can find it again as I was gonna scan it all for ya to read. The Head line was Toy Planes used as weapons or something like that.

Would I kid you fellas.

I spose if ya standing there looking down on target ya could deliver it.

The up side is ya would need lot of pratice and if Rebel HQ footing the bill nice
