Which is better? Futaba 6EX w/2.4GHz (or) Spektrum DX7

I am torn between Futaba 6EX w/2.4GHz or Spektrum DX7. I might just readily dismis the Futaba for being new and untested BUT the Specktrum package has to be purchased with the servos and to top it off they won't even work for my application.

Who thinks the Futaba 6EX w/2.4GHz for 219.00 is just as good as a DX7?

You can buy the DX7 separately from www.lightflightrc.com. That's where I got my DX7 and AR6100.

I was holding the 2 of them side by side and the DX7 felt much better.
the futaba actually felt cheap compared the the dx7.
Of the 2 I liked the looks and feel of the DX7, and there specification speak for themselves.

Is the Futaba 2.4ghz out already?

The new Futaba 6EX is the same as the old Spektrum DX6.

The DX7 is the way better choice for you.

The Futaba comes out mid April at Tower Hobbies. Yeah I want to cheap out on the DX7 and get a Futaba and two RX's but I feel it in the pit of my stomach I am going to regret it badly. I will get the DX7.

Thanks guys.

I am in no position to say you made the better choice but I can confidently say you made a great choice. I have nothing but good words for my DX7 and AR6100.

Within the confines of my micro heli requirements, the DX7 has provided me speed, precision, and programming flexibility. Little things like an intuitive setup menu and timer make me smile each time I use them. It feels like I am so connected with the heli. Certain handling characteristics that I had grown accustomed to with the stock radio, turned out to be small glitches (no thanks to dirty tx pots) that the DX7 ironed out completely. It simply feels like a different and better heli.

I know you will enjoy yours and have fun.

OK now that we have attention of most Spektrum users, can I temporarily make this a support thread hehe.

With gyro sense disconnected from the rx, my dd tail works well with my Telebee 6g gyro. Tail doesn't spin fast on spoolup. However when I decided to tidy things up and connected the gyro sense and set both Gear switch positions to 72% gyro gain, the tail spins fast after arming. It works great in flight though. Just a bit irritating spinning fast doing nothing on the ground.

I stops in throttle hold because of my p mix. Any way to have this like before but still having gyro sense connected? Also, does it matter where the gyro pot is set? because I left that where it was in the disconnected mode.

Thanks.

http://grandrc.com also sells a DX7 transmitter alone without the flight pack, for $230. I just bought one plus an AR6100 to put in my BCPP, because I started getting the dirty pot behavior on my cyclic stick that Gino described with the stock transmitter, where touching the cyclic stick makes the servos twitch. Makes hovering pretty difficult. The stock transmitter was really nice for the first 40 flights or so, then started acting up so I figured it's time to upgrade.

A used 9CHP or 9Z and get a 2.4Ghz module for it when they are out. Modules will be coming from XPS, Futaba, and Spektrum in the next few weeks/months. If you prefer JR then you might consider the 9303. Hitech also has many radios that take RF modules that can be swapped to 2.4Ghz with a simple RF module. I'm sure there are more models/manufacturers that have radios ready for a new RF module that you might want to consider.

still waiting for my DX7 to arrive, is there a thread on basic heli set up?

Heli Crackhead

Ebay

NitroRCHobbies on ebay sells the DX7 with no servos, and with an ar6100 for around $215-220 buy it now. This is where I got mine, and everything was shipped fast, retail packaging brand new...couldn't be happier.
