My Super Cub!! With A...bomb-bay Door!....and onboard-vids to come!!

Well i took the hobbyzone Arial Drop Module.....took it apart! http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=HBZ6023

and respliced and extended it using servo wire (EASY).....to the areas you see in the photos...i cut the foam out and replaced it, but you can just tuck it whare you see fit...

I used and glued hinges for the door...

the single magnet goes, in the door itselif....when the power is on, the door closes with about 3 AA batteries worth of weight before it cant handle the weight...but i only put Parachuters...he heee.... in the bomb-bay door....oh and thats a micro strobe light in the door...i think i'm going to splice in the light module-to this... and then when i click on the lights the bomb will drop... for dusk flying...pretty cool hu!

1st vid...shot by aka "butters" in the group!!
thanks butters...with a MICRO 5-in-1.

ON board vids soon.....with the new..5-in-1....

Butters here, I have seen this first hand it's totally AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

We have loaded bombs and paratroopers and looks like from the ground that we are at war. It's totally cool.

Here is the video that is mentioned above:

Keep your eye on the parachute!

Hobby Zone Super Cub: Parachute Drop! (1 min 8 sec)

Next video will be a close look at the door and a whole group of chutes! Stay tuned!

aerial drop module

I love that modification!!! So many people miss out on the FUN of the aerial drop feature when they modify their parkflyers. It's a shame to miss out. What did you use for hinges? I can't see them! I am working on using an extra drop module to somehow carry a small glider and release it.

Here's the latest vid of just a plain old drop module I have. Drop is 3/4 of the way through the vid after a Quadruple loop. The chute LANDED AT MY FEET! You really did a great job with your idea!!!! Seamless! Hope you like this ... Greg

Dropping stuff is a lot of fun, one year I dropped little paratroopers from my SS at a fly-in to give the kids something to do. I dropped 5 at a time and ended up doing 3 drops, there were that many kids that wanted to do it! I let them keep the paratroopers. My SS is equipped for night flying and one thing I've been wanting to try is hooking up small glow-sticks to parachutes and dropping those at night.

I loved the air drop mod for my PZ cub. Took some modifying from the Slo-V bomb rack, but I made it work. Had a lot fun. Funny, I've been thinking of buying another cub to just put around with from time to time. Nice stuff thanks for sharing.

Sinai1: cool vid, "for the hinges"...at hobby people, i just got the plastic flat ones then just glued them on "easy"....not really a weight issue....

Dropping stuff is way fun- I have a broken drop module I think I'll take apart based on your design there...
I dropped 144 (yes, 144!) plastic paratroopers from my electric B17 (multiplex cargo) at my stepson's school. Even dropping one at a time from a Challenger etc is great fun for kids (wears them out too, if you 'accidentally' drop them a long way off.
Any issues with carrying weight so far behind CG? Does it handle funny?

Don't drop candy though- tootsie rolls from 200 feet hurt. Don't ask how I know...

144 paratroopers OMG!!
Yeahhh, do it!! just extend the wire and tuck away as you see fit. with only about 3AA's worth of weight, (before the magnet gives), which is alot if you think about it in paratroopers. there is really not alot of room in there. you will have no handleing problems. i notice nothing in the rear end of the plane....i'm going to try to get as many of the little paratroopers in and shoot a vid soon!

Back before I moved a couple years ago- I had most of my neighborhood addicted to combat with Challengers...

For good deals on the paratroopers- check out oriental trading, http://www.orientaltrading.com

I got the little ones- can stuff a gross of 'em in the Cargo before running out of room. Can probably stuff a dozen in the Cub I'd guess.

I've dropped stuff like that too- I've probably dropped a half dozen different things, mostly from that oriental trading place- they have bulk gliders etc.
