Aero Ace F-106 Delta Dart

I always thought the Convair F-106 was a beauty, so I used my last spare AA equipment to see one fly once again. 18 inches long with a span of 11 inches and 23.1 grams AUW. Too much paint!

Nice job! I'm working on a "rafale style" plane with 2 motors (but not AA gears) and i'm wondering how the motors should be mounted inside the wings.

On your plane, they point toward the edges of the wings. I thought it should be the contrary. Do you have tried the 2 directions (and different angles)?
Thanks.

Expanding The Fleet

Relaxr,

The B-58 should be about 40% larger, but I was afraid the AA motors would not fly it.

Time to build another. I guess I'll need to retire one of my "beater" F-4s.

Fr,

In the first photo you'll see all the motors are angled. I have found this allows a quicker turn. Since they are behind the CG, more yaw moment is created with the air directed inboard. I have not tried the other way. Perhaps you would like to experiment with the angle.

Yep - its true, try to let your thrust angles point outwards of the fuse. In any case I love your jet designs, they are on the best of AA/Xtwins, the details show your enthusiasm and the arial photography is a joy. Considered an Avro Arrow, its close to the F-106 - but thats the problem, lots of valuable projects - but which to choose ??? Don't stop them jets

Nice to see a seldomly done ship. The base I was stationed at used them, and they were beauties, not to mention real dragsters. We timed them from start of roll, hit afterburner, and out of sight..less than fifteen seconds.

I said, now the rule is the jet shapes in micro planes, congratulations for your efforts and share it.

Problem

Relaxr,

Your are correct... too many cool designs to choose from. BTW, you have already guessed that photography is one of my "other" interests.

Makemcool,

I saw them back in the late '50s and '60s, and was awe struck every time.

Alfredo,

I guess I'm showing my age. Grew up with all these classics. If I were selling them, I'd probably have a company coming after me, but I'm only making models for myself, so I hope they don't care. It's FUN!
